Power saving, compact and reliable
Note: pictures show our 10mW model which looks exactly the same as this 5mW model. It also comes with the same gift box and accessories. Reported by a number of fellows from our forums, as most China-made green lasers do not come with an IR filter, this is the safest green laser to use without an IR filter as it outputs only 5mW of power where according to researches require very extensive exposure to cause health implications.

4/15/2006:
This green laser pointer is no joke, and you should use it seriously. No matter what objects you are pointing at, you will see a solid green laser point on it. Its laser will shoot through any transparent or almost transparent object and carry on its way. It's also stunning to see the actual green laser beam beam at night. Its only trade-off is the relative higher cost and the green laser related questions coming from your friends, family, classmates, co-workers (trust me on that one). Can't wait to try out the forbidden 10mW, 20mW and 30mW.

Ownership verified by DX Great laser

Involvement: General (knows how to use it) - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros: - Cheap (for this kind of laser)
- Tons of fun!!
- Really, really bright
- The weight feels good in your hand
- Visible beam! It looks like it's much more than 5mW
- Great to give as present
- Pot-moddable (haven't succeeded mine, though)
- The package said "Light pen" so if this were a heavier laser, customs are even less likely to open it

Cons: - If it's cold, it fades real quick. Gotta warm it up a little before using (I usually have it in my pocket so I don't get this problem but anyway..)
- Battery life not too long but it's managable!
- I had to stick a strand of paper in my battery compartiment because the batteries aren't fixed in place (the compartiment is just a little too wide) so sometimes I had to re-insert the batteries

Other Thoughts: - You can sell it to classmates/colleagues for >$20

Bottomline: - This thing is great: get one, or get more!

Pros: - You can see the laser beam!
- Heavy
- Price! Like 5 times cheaper than in a store!
- Great gift
- Guess it's stronger than 5mW

Cons: - Battery life - my batteries lasted about 1 hour or something.
- Gift box - doesn't really looks like a gift box, but it's OK.
- Warm-up time - could take up to 15 sec or more, not really a big con.

Other Thoughts: Remember - BE CAREFUL!
Maybe I'll buy a more powerful soon ;)

Bottomline: At first, my batteries rattled a bit inside, but I took some tin foil between the tube and the batteries and it worked just fine!

Ownership verified by DX Nice! Great price too!

Pros: Great for gifting. Almost everyone I know wants one.
Beam is quite bright; beam can be seen faintly in dim light, and even better in complete darkness.
Batteries last quite a long time. The ones included aren't that great but even those are quite long lasting.

Cons: "Gift box" isn't that nice-looking but works well protecting the laser.
When the batteries get low you sometimes have to fiddle with the switch and housing to get it to work. Not often though.

Other Thoughts: I bought six of these, some for myself and some to give as gifts.
They were all in perfect condition out of the box and all worked well with no problems. One had a (slightly) dimmer beam than the others, but overall quite impressed with them.
Batteries do rattle around a bit as pointed out in some other reviews, but this does not affect the how the laser functions.

Bottomline: Cheap, fun to use, and makes a great gift. Buy one. Or six, like I did. You won't be disappointed.

Pros: -super cheap price. for a green laser in a store, you will pay much more.
-visible beam in the dark. great if you have some mirrors for a setup.
-very bright point, great outside

Cons: batteries rattle around inside. sometimes I have to shake it to get the batteries to make proper contact for brightest beam
no IR filter (dont shine at eyes!)

Other Thoughts: I really love lasers. Honestly when I saw this I had to have it. Buy it if you're at all like me and love lasers.

Bottomline: its cheap, if you want it, buy it. takes regular batteries, no need for the expensive or rechargeable ones.
be the "laser pointer guy" in a movie theater!
