Ownership verified by DX Smooth design

Pros: Brigher, smaller, and cheaper than sku 10167 (the one with 1500 digs). Has an interesting smooth body design that is kinda growing on me. The tailcap button is reccessed so it can tail stand in candle mode, and also the tailcap isn't completly circular so it won't roll away on an angled surface.

Cons: The beam pattern is kinda ringy and theres too many modes. I only use high and sometimes strobe. On low you get some flickering and a high pitched noice. On medium you get a little flickering and on high it works fine. There is also some weird changes in the modes if you play with it (like clicking it on an off really fast). Check Candlepowerforums for the details.

Other Thoughts: A pretty good light for the price. I decided to buy for my bike based on the previous review, but my collimator (SKU 1920) is still on its way. It has fins for better heatsinking, but with 1 18650, it doesn't get too hot anyway.

Bottomline: Until I get the collimator, its too focused for me to be a good bike light. Other than that its a great light that uses a Q5.

Ownership verified by DX Excellent Bike Light when modded

Pros: Excellent torch, very bright and well built, no problems with switch. Will accept 2xCR123 3/3.7 for a brighter light with less run time. Strobe is excellent. Nice clean design without all the knurls, crowns, engraving etc. of others. Very narrow powerful spot beam, lights up objects 100 meters away!

Cons: Takes a little while to get the hang of all the modes but once mastered are very useful.

Other Thoughts: I bought this light to mod for bike use (road) and replaced the reflector with a 10 degree collimator (SKU 1920) and it now has a beautiful spill at about 10 meters. It is brighter than my friends MINEWT which cost him $300!! Mounts nicely with a fishblok from Fenix store. Will be ordering more as my riding mates all want one.

Bottomline: Good value, 5 mode, Q5 torch that accepts both 1x18650 or 2xCR123 3/3.7 and can easily be modded with a collimator for wider beam.

Pros: This is a follow up review. I've gotten my second light and wanted to report that I stumbled onto more than five modes - actually 9 in 3 groupings. Thanks to the discussion posted by Changes below I figured out how to reliably switch between them. That makes this light even better.

Also, it does take all my protected batteries.

Cons: I stumbled onto the different modes because the switch on my second light quit working (it would get stuck in). I did manage to fix it though by disassembling the tailcap and lubing the switch with teflon. It works fine now.

Also, doesn't have a lanyard hole.

Other Thoughts: Teflon lube seems to fix the sticky switch that some of these seem to be shipping with.

This light is bright enough that it makes a great candle when tailstanding. We used it to light up a room with the power out for a long time and it was quite pleasant.

Even though it looks like it might roll on a desk or other surface the flat sides of the tailcap keep it in place.

Bottomline: Still one of my favorite lights! How about an HAIII version with a shallower reflector for more spill???

Ownership verified by DX Nice looking, bright light.

Pros: Brightest spot of all my lights. Uses 18650 battery. Tailstands nicely. Very fast strobe. Includes gift/storage box.

Cons: The smooth center can make it a bit hard to grip in some conditions. The smooth reflector leads to an unsmooth beam pattern.

Other Thoughts: The high, medium, low modes aren't as distinct as they could be. Not sure if this is a pro or a con, but this doesn't have as much spill as some similar lights.

Bottomline: This is a great light that looks good too. With the gift box, it makes a great gift as well.
