Pros: Acturally works both ways with some tft monitors. I am able to take my signal from my Wii's component cable DIRECTLY into the monitor without any kind of transformers!
Cons: None!

Bottomline: Cheap and affordable!A really nice way to get your wii's video on your monitor!
Pros: It´s just well built.
Cons: It´s useless to connect the dvd player to the pc monitor.IT´s NOT VGA to COMPONENT.It´s just VGA to RGB.Just look at google for "vga pinout".There´s no way in hell it can transmit the signal without some sort of external digital processor.
Other Thoughts: The adapter just "adapts" it doesn't convert. Nearly all computer monitors need an RGB signal, as compared to the component (Y, Pr, Pb) signal that a DVD player outputs. To view a component signal on an RGB monitor requires a transcoder, which converts the component to an RGB signal. Many projectors and some rare monitors will accept a compent signal via their HD-15 (VGA or RGB) port. This is the intended use for this adapter.
Bottomline: For the adapter to work your display device must accept component inputs.
Pros: I used this to connect my xbox 360's component cable with my Dell projector, which only has a VGA input. I had to buy a coupler/female part separately from another site so that I could connect the 360's RGB cables to this cable, and was very pleased with the picture I got on my projector.
Cons: For some reason, the order of the colours on the cable is wrong, so you have to criss cross the blue and the green, but this really isn't an issue, just kind of strange.
Other Thoughts: If you're a multi-system owner like me, and want to play HD on a low-cost projector like Dell's, this is a great option for coverting the RGB into VGA so that you can input it.
Bottomline: It works :)
Pros: Low price, seems like reasonable build quality
Cons: Mine has red, white and yellow plugs - not sure how these map to RGB
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: I took a gamble with this to see if I could use it to connect my laptop to my plasma, and was unsuccessful. Oh well, it may come in handy some day... if I can sort out the color issue when the time comes.
