Pros: This is a good wire, excellent price and excellent quality cable.
I use this to plug my external hard drive that has firewire support into my computer through the USB. It runs slower then if it was firewire to firewire but at least it functions, instead of not being able to use a hard drive that doesn't have usb support.
Cons: It won't work for converting video.
I wouldn't try to burn a disk with information straight from an external hard drive with this cable. Like I said, it works great and functions fine but it is slower.
If you want to burn off your hard drive, copy and paste it onto your computer first.
Other Thoughts: I'm happy with this cable. I might order some extras soon as you can't find these anywhere unless you pay 80 or 90 USD for a converter box that's firewire on one side and usb on another.
Bottomline: If you have an external hard drive with firewire but your computer doesn't have firewire plugs, use this.

Pros: It's a good quality cable. It's long enough and that's about it.
Cons: not really that useful. I think you can't use it for usb to firewire converting, and I don't suggest to anyone even try that out. Also that purple color could be something else.
Other Thoughts: Im using the cable to charge my old ipod which has firewire connection. Works well if you want to use external batterypacks with usb-port.
Bottomline: Not that useful, but good quality. This is a good buy, if you don't want to make the cable yourself, also it's really cheap considering the quality.
