Build Quality: starstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstar

Pros:

It's not much heavy considering the steadiness. The bag that comes with it is a very nice one. The locks of the legs are firm...
The legs open a lot, what can get you very close to the ground.

Cons:

The security lock of the head is a bitch. Not easy at all to unlock... and it's a nice metal piece, so be prepared to get some yanking with your fingers that can hurt sometimes.
The thinnest legs are not thaaat much stable. It's not a build quality problem, it's a design one. It should have a little longer lock in those ones to get more stable. This last one will only be a problem when you need absolute stability, when using for time-lapses for example. So I recommend to avoid getting it all open for that kind of use.

Other Thoughts:

It could have a easier way to remove the head.. and also ship it with a adaptor screw to lock the head up-side-down. No problem in atatching the camera there, but a head in that place can be quite useful. I'll probably buy another head just to have this optional use.
I've been using it for macro-photography and time-lapse. Both require a rock-solid tripod, and besides some minor glitches this one is doing the job quite well.

Bottomline:

It's a very nice tripod for general usage. For the level of stability that it get's I have no doubt that worth having one of those comparing to the aluminum ones. Easy to carrie, comes with a good bag, level and so on. And for that price... woof... I'm quite sure it's worth it.

Ownership verified by DX Great Value

Involvement: Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership: more than 1 month

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros:

This tripod is much sturdier than expected
Very well made, quality feel and look.
Very versatile - accommodating any angle/slope and allowing the camera to be inverted.
The bag is padded and well made with good materials

Cons:

The only Con, is that I would have liked to get more of the mounting blocks which link the camera to the tripod. I have 3 cameras and a scope and having to always change the 'dovetail' block is a nuisance. I cannot find anywhere on DealX this part seperately, but I need this.
Some previous commentators have spoken about the new smell, but for me this is not an issue and in fact it tells me that I have a fine new tripod in my studio.

Other Thoughts:

I would love to find more of the device attachment blocks for this tripod.

Bottomline:

I have looked long and far for a good tripod, usually being scared off by crazy prices, or by poor quality at the bottom end of the affordable price range, but this tripod takes care of all that and this value cannot be beaten. Do not hesitate, just get it.

Ownership verified by DX Good tripod

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstar

Pros:

-Good price
-Light for its size
-Looks nice
-Good quality zipped bag that has a pocket inside, making it easy to carry.
-You can screw the rubber tips to change the legs to a pointy end. So it could be slightly nailed to the ground if it would be needed.

Cons:

-The thinner legs look a little weak and may not be very stable.

Other Thoughts:

-It has a level bubble and a little compass. Cool, but I haven't found it useful yet.
-It arrived in perfect conditions

Bottomline:

I am satisfied with this product. It's a perfect tripod for amateur or beginner photographers due to its price. I highly recommend it.

Ownership verified by DX Well-built, feature-packed

Involvement: Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership: more than 1 month

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros:

After having looked for months for a good, sturdy tripod and finding nothing but overpriced Manfrottos and Gitzos, etc, I decided to give this tripod a chance after reading the reviews below.
The things that this tripod can do put it up there with models that cost multiple times as much: quick release plate, locking ball head, adjustable feet, multiple leg angles, etc. The features on this thing are great. Theres even a mount on the bottom of the main arm to let you mount the camera upside-down for macro shots.
Build quality is great. Sure, Manfrottos are built better and are a tad lighter, but theyre also 2-3x the price! The legs are straight, they lock smoothly, and the angle adjustment works. The quick-release works smoothly with no binding, and the ball head is smooth and locks nice and sturdy-like.

Cons:

Slightly heavier than I would like, but I cant complain. At least it comes with a carrying case!
It also smelled to high heaven when I opened it for the first time. Let this thing air outside!

Bottomline:

If you want a sturdy, quality tripod at half the cost of something from the store, get this.

Ownership verified by DX Not bad, a little flimsy.
Posted by Nikoneer on 4/12/2010
Involvement: Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership: more than 1 month

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstar

Pros:

I bought this tripod after getting the 1.5 meter/5kg load rated tripod. the 1.5m was just a little too short for full staanding set up.
this tripod is very nice looking and has a lot of useful functions.
the ballhead is a decent size, very smooth and locks tight pretty good. best part of the tripod by far in my opinion.
the bag is pretty good quality as well.(was not dirty)
compass is neat, but not really needed. maybe if you are in the city and want to make sure your using light from a north facing window for shooting for the best light.
the tripod is quite light for its size.

Cons:

the legs are flimsy. they are metal but not a very heavy gauge. this makes the tripod lighter, but when it's set up it takes very little pressure to get the legs flexing.
I was surprised by the lack of strenght in the tripod as the 5kg load rated tripod has much more solid legs.

Other Thoughts:

I have used the ballhead of this tripod on my other shorter (but more stable) tripod and for that reason alone I probably would buy this tripod again.
time will tell if I still feel this way in a few months.

Bottomline:

it's a good tripod for the money, especially the ballhead. perhaps if I had bought this tripod before the other I would not have noticed the flimsy legs so much, but as I was upgrading for stregth it was very noticable to me.

Ease of Use: starstarstarstar

Pros:

1) Great Price
2) Travel Bag
3) Sturdy enough for Rebel & 70-200 (Looks like it can take a bit more load)
4)Good Packaging + Shipping

Cons:

Lacks English manual though it isn't rocket science to learn how to use it.

Other Thoughts:

I'm from India and I went ahead with the regular airmail shipping (Free). It arrived within 15 days. They had mentioned it as a gift in the package description and hence I guess I was not charged customs for it.

Bottomline:

If you are on a budget, this is the best you can get for your $

Ownership verified by DX Excellect tripod, comparably
Posted by Cristofor on 4/12/2009
Involvement: Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week

Price: starstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstar

Pros:

I received it in excellent condition. The bag is padded, clean, smells fine, and very sturdy. The tripod is practically flawless; no scratches or dents.
I bought to support my camera in portrait mode without budging. I have a Canon XT, battery grip, Canon 24-70 L lens, Canon 580EX flash. The included ball mount is good enough to support all that weight.

Cons:

There is a grip between all of the legs that you can tighten to set the high of the shaft. The threads were pretty squeaky so i just used some graphite powder (shaved pencil lead) to make it smoother.
The lower smaller leg extensions seem to be thinner than they should be; it looks like they could have used thicker tubes.
With everything fully extended, the tripod has a little give. I would compare it to a lower end travel ball head tripod.
When you extend and lock the legs, they all curve to the side. It doesn't affect the stability though.
I wish is didn't have the model number printed on the foam leg padding.

Bottomline:

It was shipped separately in the retail box. The box was wrapped in thick paper then covered in packing tape. It was in the padded bag. Everything came in excellent condition.
The finish on the tripod is very nice; it feels expensive. The included bag is really good quality. I am impressed with everything.

Ownership verified by DX OK tripod
Posted by Jooyz on 7/22/2008
Involvement: General (knows how to use it) - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week

Price: starstarstar
Ease of Use: starstar
Build Quality: starstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstar

Pros:

As with everything in life, this tripod its not perfect. Of course the build is quite solid, sturdy and made from metal but the finishing quality is still bad.
Ball head can be moved smoothly.
It also comes with compass and 2 leveling thing.

Cons:

Mine came with deep scratches and the bag quality is just unacceptable. The stitching on th bag is not strong enough to carry the weight of this tripod.

Other Thoughts:

Product still can be cheap with proper quality control.
They should put more effort in quality control and stitching on the bag should be stronger.

Bottomline:

This tripod is ok for the price but still no match to a proper tripod that they sell in photographer store.
Get this tripod if you're a photographer on a budget. It definetely serves the purpose.
Again for $69 its just an ok tripod.

Ownership verified by DX Excellent tripod for the price

Involvement: Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros:

-Excellent load rating; holds up my 70-200 f/4L IS no problem at any angle.
-built in bubble level on the tripod and the head is very useful
-lightweight
-retracts to a small size
-easy to use
-good quality
-GREAT price

Cons:

-came in a dirty bag (very very dirty)
-one of the legs are looser than the others (but doesn't affect operation)

Other Thoughts:

The bubble level is a great feature; however, if your camera body is bulky, it may obscure the bubble level since it sits too close to the mount. It'd be nice if it extends out a bit more. Works fine with a Canon 350D though.

Bottomline:

I tried looking for comparable tripods at a local camera store and was unable to find anything comparable for DOUBLE the price. Unbelievable value for the price. Highly recommended to everyone!

Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros:

- Decent built quality
- Nice foam grips on the legs

- extra locking mechanism prevent accidently dismounting the mount
- foam filled pounch

Cons:

Ownership verified by DX An EXCELLENT tripod
Posted by Cythrelo on 6/26/2008
Involvement: Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership: less than 1 day

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros:

I know it seems cliche to rate it a straight 5 in everything, but this tripod really deserves it! DX doesn't list the features, so I'll list them under "Other Thoughts".
This tripod (Fancier FT-6662A) is extremely sturdy and loaded with all kinds of useful features. You'll really notice the difference over a discount tripod.

Cons:

-The rubber feet leave black scuff marks on wood floors. No way, rubber scuffs? Stop the presses! In any case, it's not a big deal at ALL and comes up very easily.
- Instruction manual had no English translations, and the printed pictures were of very poor quality, both in printing quality and in clarity of what they're trying to convey. It's very simple intuitive though, so you shouldn't have any problem.

Other Thoughts:

Here are the unlisted features for this tripod:
- NEARLY ALL METAL! The legs and head are made out of aluminum (head is solid aluminum, legs are hollow), the ball itself is made out of magnesium. The flip locks are plastic, and so are the knobs.
- Self-locking camera plate. When you pull the release handle back, a pin raises. When you push the plate back into the shoe, the release handle snaps back into place.
- Secondary lock for the release handle, so you don't accidentally release your camera.
- Pull-locks that allow you to rotate the tripod legs out to almost 90 degrees.
- Two spirit levels (one on shoe, one on main body) plus a compass on the main body.
- Centre column can be raised. It's also reversible, but you'll rarely need it because there's also a 1/4 screw on the bottom of the column. Great for macro work.
- Rubber feet with retractable metal spikes (good for outdoors, for extra stability).
- Removable head, so you can buy your own head to use with the legs.
Continued in Bottomline.

Bottomline:

- Although it has no degree marks, the head can rotate on the spot for good panoramas.
- Foam around the legs so that your hands don't get cold.
- Extremely sturdy tripod with a smooth ball head. Adjust ball head friction by turning the knob.
- The camera plate has a cork covering. Your camera WILL NOT wiggle on it, unlike some cheaper plastic or rubber ones.
- Very high quality carrying case comes with it.
If you need a stable, all-metal tripod that can handle daily use, but you're on a restrictive budget, get this one. You won't be disappointed.
Keep an eye out for my customer images coming soon.

Ownership verified by DX Really great value for money
Posted by Kooij on 5/23/2008
Involvement: General (knows how to use it) - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week

Price: starstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros:

Nice sturdy build quality!
Ballhead moves without friction and locks very well.
My Canon 40d with both the Sigma 27-70 2.8 and the Sigma 80-400 are no problem for this tripod nor the ballhead.
It is fairly stable on maximum hight, but the lowest leg parts are a bit flimsy and i don't know the wind (vibration) resistance yet.
But it's possible to put the legs in many positions so finding a stable setup should be no issue in general.

Cons:

Finish of the ballhead is a little rough on the outside. The ball itself looks well finished though.
Legs could be bigger for a 8kg specified tripod. I'll say, till 5 kg your safe, above that you may want to keep the lowest leg parts retracted.

Other Thoughts:

This tripod is not made off composite materials but made from ALU (the legs at least), so do not get confused with the earlier review above. This is not a real dissapointment in my opinion, but you might think different about it.

Bottomline:

All in all, very great tripod for the money!
Some minor finishing blemishes on the ballhead outer finish.

Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar

Pros:

Sturdy.
Appears well built.
Good height - 1.59m.
Good quality ball head w/ quick release- able to hold SLR + telephoto lens.
Lightweight - 1340g.
Fluid leveler.
Can invert central column for macro.
Has 3/8" and 1/4" tripod thread.
Individual legs can extend to 90 degrees.
Feet can change between pads and spikes.
Comes with bag!

Cons:

None.
However, central column does have a strong smell when separated, otherwise unnoticeable.

Other Thoughts:

A pretty 'fancy' lightweight tripod so it is a good to carry around.
Model: Fancier FT-6662A, made by the Weifeng Group

Bottomline:

I do not own a Bogen/Manfrotto, but this isn't bad if you don't have $300+ to spend on a tripod.
When I ordered it I hoped it would be a good tripod and it didn't disappoint.
