Too many to list, easy to use, easy to update, works with virtualy ANY memory card no matter the speed ..... the list goes on (this is my 3rd one, not due to breaking!)

The new version that i just got shipped dont "lock" the card in place. It just slips in, not really a big deal but i like the security of locking the card seeing as its a top load slot.

Maybe go back to the locking SD card instead of "slip in"

This springless version does not shoot the TF card across the room like the old one - so that's good...

And of course, it plays your backups and homebrew flawlessly.

Cons:

Build quality seems cheaper than the old one. Bends easily.

Because there's no spring, it's hard to get the TF card out. With the old one, you could eject the TF card while it was still in the NDS. Now, you have to remove the R4DS and then use your fingernail to slid it out.

No SDHC support for TF card bigger than 2GB... yet.

Some people say some games don't work, I've tried all the mainstream popular ones and everything worked fine, I bought two and both work great

Cheap plastic case, I bought a replacement white case and am i glad, in the first 4 hours of owning it the case came apart, they should use 2 screws to hold it together or some kind of clips on the card slot edge so it can't fall apart...

Its so great! I never have to buy games again. All you have to do is drag and drop files in your microSD card.
It loads the games really fast and I think the wallpapers change as the seasons change. (Mine changed from fall trees to christmas trees)
You can even listen to music or watch movies on it.
The carrying case for the r4 looks really cool too and it can fit 2 games in it.

The instructions from the disc are kinda hard to understand. I went to the main website and downloaded the latest software for it.

Great chip. I own 1 of my own and bought 2, this one and another one. For those who do not wish to pay silly money for games they cant try or want to try, this is it.

The part where you put your memory stick in, that part can be fragile. Too harsh on it and it CAN break. Happened to my friend where a spring i believe flung out. and he tried putting it in and it just rejects with a spring inside. no idea. but its fragile.

Pros:

This thing is one of the best slot-1 card out there. Its very easy to use and simply the best for its price. I heard a lot of people talking about CycloDS and how its better but this and CycloDS basically do the same thing, just that CycloDS has more added features (My friend has a CycloDS and I'd used it, thats how i know). But the if you're just looking for the main stuff like DS ROM emulation, music and movie, then there is only one thing to say: R4, GET IT!!!

One more thing, about the shipping. Mine came pretty fast on regular air shipping(the free shipping). My order was placed on 10/16/2007 9:43:02 PM. and was delivered at 1:56 PM on October 25, 2007. It took 9 days totaled and I live in Northern California, USA so I think that was a pretty fast delivery.

Cons:

One thing I've notice was when I load up a rom that was new (doesn't have any save file for it yet), the r4 prompted me with a message on rather to create a save save file, cancel or ignore. I chose ignore and the game booted up but it froze with 2 black screen (The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass). I haven't tried it on many games so I don't really know if it's only Phantom Hourglass.

One more con. This doesn't seem to fit into the DS (FAT) really well. My little brother has one of the old version DS (FAT) and the r4 cartridge would get stuck in it. I had to use force to yank it out most of the time but it never messed up the r4 so i guess it's OK.

Despite some of the Cons, I still think the r4 is worth my every penny. DX shipped out my order pretty fast, plus it's free shipping too.

The card comes with the latest firmware (v1.11) on the cd. Just copy these files to an MicroSD card and insert it into your R4DS and your off!
At the time of writing the R4DS doesn't support SDHC yet, but it's rumoured that the upcoming v1.12 firmware release will add support for SDHC cards.

Needless to say if you're here you know what you're getting, but if you don't:

Plays virtually anything NDS wise and it doesn't matter if you have a lite or original machine.

Latest firmware allows most homebrew to work without patching it first, some stuborn titles work better patched.

Movie playback is great, and conversion doesn't take too long on a fairly fast PC/Mac.

Micro SD is a tiny format and the prices have started to drop hugely. This makes using it as a media player massively worth it compared to flash based players.

Cons:

Build quality on my unit was lacking. The sticker was all kinds of badly placed and the cart felt like it was stuck together with air. Nothing that couldn't be fixed.

Occasionally fails to be recognised by the DS, reseating it works just fine though. Takes you back to blowing the dust out of NES carts.

The USB reader can be a test of your nerves, the fitting for the Micro SD card is very tight. Putting too much effort into it could end in a disaster. I'd suggest that power users use an SD card adapter and using a memory card reader.

Other Thoughts:

If you already have a DS and you want to expand your horizons a notch, this is for you.

If you're tempted to buy a media player and you already have your DS, get this and a few Micro SD cards and you're set.

The price of Micro SD cards is going low enough to make it almost viable enough to never have to slide the card into the reader once it's full, just buy another and repeat.

i order about 8 of these r4 already. i love them but their build quality is questionable. one of my usb stick is defective and one of my r4 is broken because the spring for the microsd slot broke. i suggest buying the new r4 version that doesn't use spring to load the microsd.
