Acekard 2i AK2i Multimedia SDHC TF Cart for DSi/NDSi/DS Lite

Pros:

- Great look (skinnable) and functionality in the Akaio system software.
- High compatibility with the latest files
- WiFi update for system software and cheat files
- Loads GB content directly with addition of EZ Flash card
- Reportedly compatible with DSi (though I couldn't test this with my DS Lite)

Cons:

- Takes just a little online research to get started because it comes without any software
- Package includes card only, so you'll need a flash chip USB adaptor to update the memory chip

Other Thoughts:

DealExtreme got this to me in a reasonable time, even considering the inevitable Holiday Mail Rush.

Bottomline:

Far, FAR better than my previous TopToy card and my second highly successful transaction with DealExtreme. (The second of many to come.)
VERY highly recommended.

Pros:

- Everything I've thrown at it can be played
- Easy to use
- AKAIO firmware (3rd party firmware that even the official acekard website hosts) makes the thing more or less perfect.

Cons:

- Build quality rather flimsy, I think there's a small crack on mine already (and that's when I just opened it)

Bottomline:

At $12.97, and be able to support the DSi with no issues, this is a must have if you have one. If you don't have a DSi, look into the other Acekard 2. The firmware it uses is probably one of the best ones out there.

Pros:

By far this is the best flashkart out there for the DSi. Had to upgrade the firmware on it first though so I recommend you borrow a friend's Ds lite to make it compatible with the new 1.4 update. Also with the release of the AKAIO update this thing is near perfect now so I can call this a sound investment for the price you're paying for

Cons:

The sticker started to peel on the kart after a few days, so I took it off, which was a dumb idea cause it left behind a really sticky mess on it. other than that it's gold.

Other Thoughts:

What else is there to say? If you're looking at it you already know what its for, so GET IT!

Buy it, unlock your DSi's full potential ;)

I haven't installed the AKAIO firmware yet, but I hear its better than the AceKard firmware.

Feels Flimsy
Hard to put the microSD card into it.

Bottomline:

I've only had this a couple of days, but it works well and is as described. Games save and are accessed quickly. All in all, this is a good device and very useful.
I may be buying another one. This does feel a bit flimsy so I'm not sure how much I can play with it before it falls apart.
It comes in a cardboard box that contains only the card and instructions.

Pros:

- Doosje was beetje gedrukt, maar kaartje was niet kapot dus niet zo heel erg, alleen jammer voor verkoop.

- Currently All known DSi Updates As of Sept 1st 2009 dont affect the useability of this flashcard on the DSi {Tho their isnt any recent ones yet that affect it}
- Supports GBA/DS Emulation {Only GBA Works on DS/DS-Lite ONLY}
- Supports Alot of custom/homebrew/dev software (Moonshell, and custom operating systems installed in a .nds file)

Cons:

- The Pins Break After 200+ Inserts/removal of the MicroSD Chip
- The Software isnt included must be downloaded from the website, {http://www.acekard.com/download.php}
- Internal spring, which may eventually break in the future, hasnt happened to me

Other Thoughts:

Great tool, to play any NDS Roms, as well as custom made games. Tho i highly recommend you BUY the game before you get the ROM< so you dont get owned by the lawsuits their putting on people

great card , works with all the games for DS or DSI that i have. the program is easy to use . it seems fast enough for me even if some people say it's slow. many preferences and options in the firmware.
this one is good quality . 4GB cards work fine and fit with no problem.

no firmware installed. it should be built-in.
people who don't know how to do can have problems at the first time. that's the only Cons.

Great card for running homebrew stuff on the DS. I haven't any problems with this yet, save for little glitchy noises at the start of mp3s, but I haven't played around with it a lot. Basically dump the firmware on a Micro-SD card, boot up and go. I use this with a sandisk 2GB microSD card and it works great.

Bottomline:

I don't know how this compares to R4 or any other DS cards, but this one works, and works well. Great value.

Great Card even if its been turned into a DSL/DS only card still they work great. Fast loading is also nice and unlike alot of other carts so far i have had to patch no roms for full functionality and have had very little issues or problems with any games at all.Buy one if u want a Good dsi cart cheap. and the price might plummet if we are lucky p:)until an update is found for them.

Great price. I have bought one of these from another website for about double the price here. Although i did get a card reader, the price was a rip off. this item is great and pretty easy to use. just use the product web site to help get started. This item can support a 16gb Micro HC sine thats what mine uses.

Cons:

No card reader but no problem, Deal extreme has a vast variety of Micro sd readers. Same goes for SD card. 2 gb is perfect for most gamers. 4-8gb is great for multimedia. 16 gb must have been a great deal.

I was lucky to have a MicroSD card reader already from a previous card, so I was quickly able to download the latest firmware, pop it on the MicroSD card and insert it into the AceKard 2i.
I was up and running in minutes. I haven't tried much in the way of Homebrew yet, but Lameboy works fine.
The theme system seems better than R4's. Just drop a folder with your new theme onto the card and it's available next time you boot. The method for changing the theme is not so intuitive, but since I don't do it on a regular basis, it's not a big issue for me.
I bought it for future compatibility with a DSi, but right now it's giving me more with my DS than my other two cards did. I'm more than happy I got it.

You get a great card for a small price. Go for it!!

Pros:

If your a newbie on a flash cart then this flash cart is for you. This is easy to set up and places a handful of ROMs. The good things are:

Cons:

After a few months, i relised that I can get more of my acekard 2i rather than playing ROMs and using moonshell. I relised that I can go on msn, convert my ds into a phone etc. I tried doing putting these applications onto my acekard 2i but its doesn't work. So this flash cart is built for ROMs and only moonshell.

Bottomline:

If you want a flashcart to play ROMs and use Moonshell, then this flash cart is for you. If you want to use this for something else, then I'd recommend a different flash cart...

Because there is no directory-caching (like R4 seems to have) changing directory might be a boring affair. Anyway i cannot see any in-game lag ...

I have received two of those AK2i for now.
One of the two was loose in the AK box while the other one was secured in a plastic holder but the two are working nicely anyway.
In fact i ordered the first one for my daughter but was so amazed when i tested it that i bought a NDSL for me and order a second AK2i ;o)

Does what it says using either the native AK2 or the 3rd. party AKAIA firmware. Works fine on DS "Phat" and DS Lite (no DSi to try it on, I'm afraid).
Versatile, customisable, very homebrew-friendly.
Sprung MicroSD slot (well, I prefer them anyway).

Cons:

Boots via NDS menu rather than straight into flashcard.
No MicroSD reader included.
A little fiddly to navigate menus and to set up skins and saves.

I bought an Edge DS card just before this AceKard and have now ordered another. My two sons found the AceKard card a little harder to use than the Edge, so I'm happy to have it for myself.

If you're mostly planning on running games, consider the Edge DS instead of this card.

Works perfectly on my DS Phat with a 2GB Kingston MicroSD (SKU02396). I couldn't get the AKAIO firmware to work though, but with the original it works just fine.
Arrived after 8 business days safe and sound.
