EZFlash 3-in-1 Memory Expansion Pack for NDS Lite

Pros:

It worked great the first time without even having read the manual (I don't think there even was one). Very easy to use. Once it's in, there's no risk of it falling out.

Cons:

It was a bit expensive, but I wasn't able to find a cheaper one otherwise I would have bought that one. It was a bit difficult to slide into the slot. The black color contrasts with my pink NDSL.

Other Thoughts:

I didn't really test any of the other features besides being able to play GBA games on the DS. I have no reason to assume they don't work though. I would do some research before buying though as I found that there actually are no games for the GBA that I wanted to play.

Bottomline:

I highly recommend this one if you want to play GBA games on your DS.

Pros:

Web browser for DS Lite works with my wi-fi.
Rumble function works well.
Load Game Boy Advance Roms quickly and auto save game.
Perfect fit for my DS Lite.
Easy to use.
Good price.

Cons:

Did not come with instructions. Didn't come with any documentation at all.

Other Thoughts:

Great for playing older Game boy games, Game boy advance, game boy color, etc.
Roms are very small in size and can fit many on micro sd 8gb card.

Bottomline:

Definitely a great deal!
I would reccomend getting one of these if you want to load game boy roms.
Also the web browser is pretty cool if you are near a wifi signal

-You'll be able to play any GBA game without any problems.
-Decent price considering other available options.
-Expanded RAM is excellent for homebrew applications.
-Fits snugly into slot 2 without any protrusion.
-Build quality is good. No problems with it.

Cons:

-You'll have to have at least remedial Googling ability to get the thing working as there are certain things you'll have to download and have installed on slot 1.
-The rumble pack function is awful, just awful. More of an annoying buzz than a rumble. Don't bother if that's the only feature you're interested in.
-Web surfing using the DS isn't really all that hot either because it's crazy slow and there's a lot the DS can't do, even with homebrew.
-Once the battery dies a few years down the road, you'll need to buy another one.

Other Thoughts:

-Works perfectly with the Edge flash card. All you'll need to get is the GBA ExpLoader application.

Bottomline:

If you're looking to play GBA games or want expanded RAM for homebrew then you can't beat this for the price. Even when you consider it'll need to be replaced every few years, this is still your top choice.

Pros:

This program is a new mod chip than the previous version. I really like the rumble pack feature that it has. I can set it between 3 levels: High, Medium, and Low. It can play GBA games simply and easily. I also like the feature where it can support Homebrews . The web browser I use it Opera Browser.

Cons:

need to download rudholphs flsh tool to actualy use, but once you get the hang of it its actually quite easy!

Other Thoughts:

Search for guides on how to use it with your slot-1 device and you'll be fine.

Bottomline:

If You Know What Its Is You'll Probably Want One!!

it brings life back to your ds if you wanna play old games like pokemon or old mario games and stuff

crap with both AceKArd2i and GBA expansion pack I have over 5000 games on my NDS. Some call it stealing well let me tell you: At $30 a pop per game I would not buy them at ALL. Ever. Before I decided to get both adapters I had 2 games which I bought for $5 at Walmart. There is no freaking way that I would ever pay 1000's of $ on bunch of games. Plus who would want to carry all these cartridges? So bottomline Nintendo is not loosing any money as I would have never given them any in the first place.

It's not really a con, i just think it could've came with some instructions for the less skilled users and also with some homebrew to make it work right away.
I had to download a homebrew to change the modes (GBA/RAM/RUMBLE) and to write the GBA roms to the device. It wasn't really a problem for me, but some users can really get lost w/o instructions.

Bottomline:

It has some pretty great features that add a lot to the NDS experience.
- The GBA flashcart is great
- The ram is very useful, especially when using homebrew.
And this price is quite good. I recommend it.

Not that much cons but I think that the Rumble waste too much energy from the DS and also when you use it like ram. It was kind of difficult to find the right software to make it work with the Opera Browser and also to play GBA games because they are differrent. Also, it's a little annoying when traying to use the ram that you have to restart your cart to get working, I don;t know if its just my case but that happens.

I was shocked when I saw that price so cheap and I thought it was fake but trust me it is a totally great product and it original! That's to bird by 1 shot! Great!

It does the job of what I bought it for originally. Acting as a RAM holder for GBA roms on the NDS.

I could not get it working as RAM for the DS web browser. I could not get the rumble pack function working too, as I had to get a separate module for each to get working.

+ Can use AIM clients via Opera browser (required refreshing, but was still pretty impressive.)

Cons:

- Does not come with instructions on how to use or load. (You may have to search google or youtube for help if needed--as I did.)
- Loading and playing GBA games can be a bit confusing(I need to play around with it more).
- Loading GBA games takes a few seconds, but is worth the wait.
- Rumble only works with rumble enabled games (limited choices).
- Rumble generates a somewhat loud buzz--may not be the best device to use in quiet places.

Other Thoughts:

I have only used it for the extra RAM for the web browser, 1 GBA game and the rumble pack (which is pretty mush what it is advertised for). Not sure it was the most practical purchase for me, but it is a great Slot-2 cover when not in use.
Works fine with my CycloDS Evolution. Have not tested with my R4 HDSC or EZ-Flash V.

Bottomline:

This device can prove handy for those GBA enthusiasts. Get yourself a large MicroSD card, and your choices will be endless. The rumble adds a nice touch to DS play (when enabled).
If you have a black DS, the black version blends right in. Overall, worth the money.

works out of the box very easily with acekard 2.1+akaio. just plug and play, navigate to a .gba file and run it, it will automatically copy the file from slot1 to the slot2 memory then run it. same for the rumble, just set rumble level in the menu, all rumble-capable games will use it without further fuss. same for the opera browser.
build quality is superb.

Cons:

3 in 1. you only need one feature still you have to pay all three. you can not buy a memory expansion pak or gba pak by itself.
rumble levels middle and high are extremely loud. no, really, it is disturbing and feels unwelcome even alone at home.
expensive (for 2 memory chip and a motor).

the ds rumble feature is REALLY useless. i've tested ALL 34 english games which are on the wikipedia page, the results are: 1 game is rather nice (actionloop), 1 game is tolerable (metroid pinball), 32 games are useless/awkward/inconvenient/unsuitable/inappropriate/unpleasant/clumsy/really-really bad experience. especially racing games. very bad job there nintendo.

Bottomline:

if you need the browser or gba games, buy this. in fact you have no other option than buying this...
however if you need rumble... think it again :D ok, if you really need it, buy a rumble pak.

The amount of options that this slot-2 device opens up is enormous and this card does all that it promises.
+Running GBA games was very easy and they run perfectly.
+Rumble works.
+Ram expansion is utilized when supported.
+Build quality is good.

Cons:

-This cartridge does stick out a tiny bit, it is very minor, but noticeable with touch. It is not very noticeable with look if that helps better understand how far its out. (Less than ~1 mm easily)
-Rumble can be pretty noisy
-This product does not work out of the box with M3 Real (see other thoughts)

Other Thoughts:

Even with the use of the ram expansion browsing on the DS is still very bad, but that's not the fault of this product.
Although it doesn't work out of box, This product is very easy to get working just by simple google searching and viewing the forum, and it played any gba rom I had sitting around. Be sure you can use this product before you buy it!

Bottomline:

This product works, does everything it promises. Being able to play GBA roms is by far its best feature.

The three in one is pretty cool, it looks good and it works well when it does. However, it doesn't work with anything other than EZflash.
If you have a R4, forget it.

If you have a EZFlash, by all means, get it, although your EZFlash probably already came with one.
If you have any other flash card, or no flash card at all, then don't get it. Simple.
...Although if you have an Acekard it might work with AKAIO.

Pros:

It is great for playing GBA games and stuff with and using it with the net! It is not compatible with all cards and all homebrews even ones meant for it but it runs perfectly!

Cons:

Really besides the speed for the net its useless you can just get hombrew apps that will play GBA games and do exactly what this does. Really not worth it at that price if it was a little cheaper 10 bucks maybe 8 then its fine or if you get it with the m3 combination.

Bottomline:

I dont suggest getting it but if you want faster net or to not have to download a dangerous hombrew app(dont know why you have a ds card) then get it!

Pros:

Can play GBA games on your DS using a flash cart. Very easy to use and fast loading roms. Build quality is very good.

Cons:

Price are a bit expensive for this product. You need to find and download the GBA loader on the internet in order to use it, otherwise it's just a regular GBA slot case inside your DS. More colors available to choose from would be great.

Bottomline:

A great buy at this price, though cheaper would be better. Definitely buy this if you love playing GBA games on your Nintendo DS Lite. Very easy to use.

Pros:

this thing is a great companion for your DS, and if you have a compatible flash cart, you can load full GBA roms into its onboard RAM and play them without even writing them to the flash.
The price is pretty good too!

Cons:

The rumble is a little bit loud.. I was playing a game and i nearly jumped out of my skin when it rumbled because it scared me.. most flashcarts will have an option to turn down the rumble strength though.

Bottomline:

Worked with friends DSTT card and with standard ds games on vibrate but couldn't test browser as wornt work with EDGE.

Pros:

Product arrived within expected shipment delay. Packaging is pretty simple but sufficient (bubble wrap around the unit, genuine box).
Unit looks sturdy. It works but there is a firmware issue (see "Other Thoughts"). It's mate Black.
Fits pretty flush with a DS Lite (with 1 mm margin).

Cons:

No manual or notice is included with the product but it's no big deal.

Other Thoughts:

I received the product on January 23, 2009.
I expected to get the normal Expansion Pack but Gba ExpLoader 0.58b recognizes it as "3in1Pls" so I guess I got the new version with more memory (Hurray !). A thorough visual inspection of the unit confirmed it's the "Plus" version as the PCB is blue insted of green.
DX should relabel the product as "EZFlash 3-in-1 Memory Expansion Pack Plus for NDS Lite" to avoid misinterpretation from customers.

Bottomline:

Aside from the mislabeling from DX, nothing to say.
Just make sure you want the Plus version but hey, who wouldn't want more memory ? ;-)
This product is, IMHO, highly recommended.

Pros:

Well these are few and far between at this given time. I guess at least it still runs GBA games.

Cons:

On the box it states that the ram has been doubled and it indeed has which required them to replace the chipset for more memory, this was not easy to find and was most certainly not explained to me. When they did this they effectively rendered the 3in1 useless when used with the EDGE card, it doesn't even recognize the card for rumble or expansion, I'm sure if you bought it with the companion card it would likely work and I'm sure that the good people over at the makers of the edge card will fix this it's just a matter of time.

Bottomline:

If you want to use this card and are ordering it now you should consider the combo pack since it will more likely work. I believe they just changed this, people are having problems with orders from about 1/10/09 on. Just make sure to check that your slot 1 cart is compatible with the new revised 3in1 card.

Pros:

If you like GBA games or want to use the Opera Browser on your DS, you should get one of these. I figured it is best to be used with an Acekard 2 (available from DX) or a cyclo ds card (not sold at DX) - since they automatically load GBA games from their menu, and also automatically patch Opera to use the memory extension.

Cons:

The rumble motor is very noisy (despite that the level can be set in as low-med-high, even the low setting is noisy) and quickly drains your battery.

Other Thoughts:

Like I said buy an Acekard 2 from DX if you want to enjoy this card without any hassle. Otherwise you can always download the free GBA Exploader program, and place it onto your R4 / DSTT / (etc) card and use it with that.

Bottomline:

I am really satisfied with this product, have bought 10+ pieces all together already from DX for friends, and to resell. It is really a nice little card, especially for playing those good old GBA games on your DS. Highly recommended.

Pros:

GBA Games works with GBA_ExpLoader 0.58b on SCOne SDHC as slot-1 card. GBA games are reported to work on other slot-1 cards.

Cons:

Nothing else works. Lack of software support at the moment (Jan. 18, 2009).
Probably only works with EZFlash V for all 3 functions. Existing NDS patches for old 3-in-1 will not work for the new EZ 3-in-1.

Other Thoughts:

Waiting for other slot-1 card to support it.
Waiting for new (game/apps)NDS patches to support it.

Bottomline:

This review is only for the new EZ 3-in-1 plus with 512Mbit NOR. I ordered old EZ 3-in-1 with 128Mbit NOR from dealextreme.com at 12/25/2008 but received the new EZ 3-in-1 plus instead.

Pros:

-Plays GBA ROMs directly on the card, right from the DS Menu*
-Can be used for NDS Browser or homebrew requiring RAM
-Works as a rumble pack
(* Can hold one game at a time, or run games saved on a Slot-1 card)

Cons:

-Games must first be copied over from Slot-1 card; no way to use without a Slot-1 before the game is copied over.
-Rumble is sometimes too loud, annoying.
-NDS Browser sucks. Ok, not the EZFlash 3-in-1's fault, but the statement stands. :P

Other Thoughts:

It's a perfect match for any Slot-1 card; combined, you can play any GBA and NDS game ever released.
It would be better if it supported microSD cards, so you could keep multiple games on it rather than your Slot-1 though.
Some Slot-1 cards have native support, but others require an additional homebrew (GBA Exploder).
There's a full-size version for GBA, GBmicro, and NDS phat, if you can find it. I believe DX is sold out.

Bottomline:

Simple to use with a Slot-1 card, useless without one.

Pros:

This device does everything! It fits perfectly in slot-2, unlike the GBA carts that stick out. I've experienced no glitches with the device. Runs GBA roms perfectly. Easy to use and customizable everything. Unbeatable price.

Cons:

The rumble buzz is loud and annoying, but I don't really use the rumble function often.

I specifically bought this device to be used along with my acekard 2.1 and it delivers everything it promises. The best thing for me is that all you have to do is load GBA roms onto a microSD card and put it in the acekard and then select it from the menu.

Bottomline:

GBA roms, extra ram, and rumble. You never have to remove this cartridge from your slot-2! It's everything!
