USB Charging Cable for NDS Lite

Pros:

Works well, charges all devices that have the same adapter.
Long enough for most uses, cable hasnt broken in over a year so its pretty durable.
Its nice to have white usb cable like this while everyone else is stuck with their gray/black ones.
Also it looks good with my white DS, my macbook and my old phone!
All matching colors.

Pros:

It does what it's supposed to do, and it's very cheap. I use it with a USB wall charger and it functions the same way as a DS adapter.
This also means it's less bulky than the adapter so it's easier to pack when traveling. I would buy a USB wall adapter to go with it. I use it with SKU 25372

It fits a lot tighter than the normal DS charger, I hope this doesn't affect the life of my DSL. Afraid that it might break the charger port.

Using usb chargers/adapters for portable devices, makes more sense to me than carrying around a bunch of wall chargers. This chargers goes in my geek bag, or laptop bag (whichever I am carrying at the current moment), and reduces some of the bulk when I am mobile. I wish it came in a longer version, but this is generally long enough for normal use (whatever that means).

This is an excellent wire, it's nice and long and it charges my DS without a problem.

Cons:

I actually ordered this a while ago and it was defective. If I kept my DS on then plugged it in, it would shut my DS off and not charge. Even if I kept it off, it wouldn't charge. I contacted DX and they replaced it for me with no problems.
The new one I got works beautifully.
Judging by the reviews, there tends to be a lot of defective ones in stock. Be prepared to possibly need a replacement.

Other Thoughts:

If you plug it in and the light doesn't come on that tells you it's charging, don't leave it in!
If you leave it in, you will eventually overheat the DS and possibly break it.

I found that after plugging this in for about an hour that my NDS was heated up very badly. The up down left right arrow area of the NDS was very very warm.
There is no light indication that the NDS is charging.

Because of the heating problem, i have since stopped using this cable (after the first time), for fear of actually damaging my DS.

The product is manufactured incorrectly. Whilst the USB cable has 4 wires (2 for power 2 for data), the NDS charging cable only utilises 2 of the wires (only the power ones). The problem is that the wires are incorrect connected for one of the USB connection heads in the manufacturing process. To solve this, you have to cut the wire at a point that gives you some space on both sides of where you cut to allow you enough wire to perform the rewiring. Once you cut the cable, strip the outer white casing. You will find 2 smaller cables inside - one white and one biege/brown. Strip these 2 cables of 1-2 cm of the cable housing. Connect the white wire of one side to the biege wire of the other side and vice-versa. Once done, you should seal each stripped wire with electrical tape. You should be able to use it after this. Hope this helps.

You should avoid this until they have fixed this cross wiring problem. I bought 2 of them and both of them are incorrectly crossed. It isn't worth the effort unless you get a kick out of this sort of thing (I did but I can't help thinking I could have saved an hour if the manufacture was correct).

I needed a charger for my NDS Lite, which I can use in my car. This, combined with SKU 688, was the best value for money choice I could make. It is the best priced USB to NDS Lite power cable I could find. It is easy to use, just plug the one end into your DS Lite and the other end into a computer USB port or into SKU 688, if you want to charge it in your car. The build quality seems to be good. I have been using it for six months now and did not have any problems with it. I still think it was a good choice.

It's way cheaper then buying an extra european power supply unit.

I went to China last summer (2007). Obviously I knew the plugs where different there than in Canada. However, I thought it would work if I bought a voltage converter thingy. It worked for my cell phone, my hair dryer, but not my DS. I had to spend my vacation with no DS to play. I wish I had this last year.
