Pros: great looking design. feels very good in the hand and is quite small.has the standard high quality build i've come to expect from romisen.has a q5 in it and is very very bright with an outstanding throw for such a small reflector.has a very smooth forward click switch.it's smaller than expected and when you see that much light come out of something so small it's pretty amazing. great pocket light, the smooth design makes it easier to carry and can fit in my front jeans pocket with out too much discomfort, but better suited for shirt/jacket pockets and purses.good one for the glove box too. the nice shape makes you want to show it off, and then the output backs up it's good looks.
Cons: battery rattle, but again, a piece of paper around the batts cured it.the button is pretty small and may be a little hard to press if you have gorilla hands.as another reviewer said, replacing/repairing the switch may be somewhat of a pain in the a$$ because it's tucked way up inside the back half of the light.but i haven't had a romisen switch fail me yet. the body's really smooth..... slick actually, and could be a little tough to hold on to with wet hands.
Other Thoughts: very nice, pretty design, if there is such a thing with flashlights.
Bottomline: great built, super bright, good price.good gift light because of it's impressive style.it's a light i think i'll be buying more of to impress the hard to please people in the family.
Pros: awesome little light.great price.barely bigger than the aaa battery that powers it.very well built.seems tankoo7 [?] can build them nearly as good as romisen.nicely knurled body. very smooth feeling switch. has clear silicon o-rings.tiny light.puts out a surprising amount of light for such a small size.not a strong thrower or a powerhouse flood light, but very good up to about 50 or 60 ft.i would say it's bright enough to be a close range deffensive light. you pop an attacker in the eyes with a blink or two from this little light and they will be temorarily blinded.
Cons: a forward click would be nice.it's not totaly sealed from water even thought it has o-rings in all the right places. they should have used a silicon tailswitch cover to seal it.biggeest con.....dx is TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK, meaning they don't have them any more. so this review is useless.
Other Thoughts: i want more of these lights, they are very useful.would make awesome gifts. also a very good edc light.
Bottomline: dx needs to get more of these. they need to find another supplier or go directly to the factory.very disappointed that they're out of stock.i must have bought the last one!sorry, but i'm glad i got it.
Pros: great build quality, of coarse, because it's a romisen.nice design, and size. great edc light.forward click switch.very sturdy bulid.... thick.this one has a p2 cree in it.runs on one widely available and affordable aa battery. [.... no 14500 3.6v! it will fry it!]throw is decent, with usable side spill. medium sized hotspot.bright orange switch cover.
Cons: has a p2 in it, while it's blue-ish silver brother, sku3879, has a p4.so this one isn't as bright as it should be.it has the same driver and p2 cree that the rc-g2 has, yet this light is smaller and cost $2 more.
Other Thoughts: good design, nice size and weight.would be a very good one to upgrade with a q5 cree available here on DX.
Bottomline: it's a solid light with medium performance due to the emmiter. needs to be updated some, but it's an easy mod for anyone with a little skill.
Pros: great little light! very well built, with a nice blueish silver finish. has a p4 running on 2 aaa batteries. it's as bright as the rc-c3. i wouldn't be surprised if the lights shared the same driver and possibly the reflecter. it's about the same size as a minimag 2 aaa, and brighter than my 2 d-cell 3watt led maglite...... for half the cost and a 1/4 the size! has a nice feeling foward click switch too. it's also as bright as my rc-n3, but doesn't quite have the throw because of a different reflecter design. nicely knurled grip and crowned bezel.runtime should be in the 2 to 3 hour range. the rc-c3 i converted to run on 2 aaa's has a run time of 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours depending on the brand of alkylines used. a litte less on nimh rechargeables.... but hey, they're rechargeable. i see no reason this light won't have a very similar runtime. it's pocketable in a jacket ar loose fittin' britches.bright enough to be used defensively.
Cons: slight battery rattle that was taken care of with a piece of paper around the batts.
Other Thoughts: i am very pleased with this little light. it really is another awesome light from romisen.
Bottomline: if you are looking for a great flashlight for a very good price, i can safely tell you that you will be happy with this light, actually any light with the romisen name on it is a smart purchase. one you'll be glad you made!
Pros: kind of neat, and rare these days with the jeweled mechanical movement. waving chairman starts up after a few winds of the stem. push button in the middle of the crown to open "hunter" style case.the rear cover snaps on. made of pot metal with a copper-ish old penny look. has a plastic "lens". comes with a like-colored chain and clip. [of which i have no use for]
Cons: funky lookin'. not the most accurate watch on the planet.run time on a single full wind is just over 24 hours..... that's about 12 hours shorter than expected.
Other Thoughts: great gift for anyone that collects watches because it's so unique.
Bottomline: it's a cool novelty watch worth every penny of $9 just for the movement alone.
Pros: great price, and you get two of them.works very good as a universal mount for countless accessories.clamps very tight. being a 2-pack allows use on multiple weapons or use of a couple different accessories.can be used as a temporary scope mount in a pinch.
Cons: thread holes were drilled crooked, but doesn't effect functionality of mount. use a thin piece of leather on fire arms you wish to potect. it can marr the surface on "blued" steel.
Other Thoughts: don't have to use them soley on weapons. can be used to mount a variety of things to a variety of things.it can be used as temporary scope/laser mounts. temporary because it will move off zero after a few rounds fired. maybe better on an air rifle or .22 but not on higher powered firearms.
Bottomline: it's a decent mount. won't win a beauty contest but it's functional and highly adaptable.
Pros: i don't really care about the chairman mao imiges or commemeration, no offense. i bought it because it's a mechanically powered pocket watch.if you know anything about pocket watches, this one is a size 12...[?] in a "hunter" case.comes with a clip and chain in an antique copper/bronze finish.push button to open the cover, and thin sharp tool [knife] to open the rear cover.has an 18 or 19 jeweled manual wind mechanical movement.exact same movement is used in the wrist watch offered here. [sku21484,]stem winds at the 3 o'clock position. [just like sku21484]case is made of die cast "pot metal".same metal as a "hot wheels" toy car.a few twists of the stem and again, like my wrist watch, old mao starts his seemingly endless wave guesture.it's much nicer looking than the prod page photos.has a plastic "crystal", so it should withstand a little more punishment.
Cons: none with this particular watch.it has a plastic "crystal" so it may scratch easily. [it is covered with the lid most of the time though]a variety of images, and themes could make this a great collectable.
Other Thoughts: i'm repeatin' myself from my sku21484 review, but i truly believe this would be a hot seller if they were offered with multiple different types of dogs/cats/pets waggin' their tails.ORworld leaders waving at their followers/haters.the case could just be a plain smooth case or have some frilly decorations... whatever.it's a rare thing to see a mechanical movement these days, and rarer in something affordable.
Bottomline: this is one of the few watches from DX that you DO NOT have to request extra bubble wrap before it's shipped.it's built like a tank.i am actually ordering another after i complete this review, and maybe a few more later.i want to "experiment" with different faces and cases using this movement.
Pros: it's made of a nylon mesh, with a denser "balistic" nylon material, or textured vinyl, as the main structure. in between the mesh is a foam sponge type padding that is very porous or holey allowing a lot of air to circulate through it while on your arm.that helps keep it as cool as you could get with something like this on your arm.it has a velcro closure that goes through a large plastic "buckle" and doubles back to fasten closed. should fit a wide variety of arm sizes. if it's too small for the upper arm, it wil fit the wrist for sure.it holds my nano clone very tight and secure with access to the charge port and headphone jack.seams to be made fairly well.
Cons: it fits nano clones better than real nanos or the "nano exact" clone.DX has two of the clones that fit this armband. [a pink and a silver one]another drawback is the nano has shake to shuffle and changes songs when shook. not good if you wear it in this and do any kind of moving around. forget jogging or running with an actual ipod nano.but the clones that don't have shake to shuffle/change song work perfectly in it.
Other Thoughts: the nano clones DX sells do not have shake to shuffle/change song, so they will work fine.
Bottomline: if you like to have your ipod style mp3 player on your arm, here you go, this is for you!i bought a couple.some of the nano clones have an external speaker. so you can wear this with out earphones and still hear it, though barely.the people i showed these to really liked them, so get 'em for yourself or to sell.
Pros: great universal design and adaptability.very simple and easy to use.seems to be fairly strong and secure. could be a decent scope mount on a very low recoil firearm. but best as a light/laser mount.comes with an allen key for install/remove.has a decent "blued" finish that should match just about any manufacturers bluing.adjusts to a wide variety of barrels, flashights, scopes, and lasers.since it's a 2 pack you can "double up" to hold something more securely.can mount a light to any bar or pipe.bike frame or handle bars.if used with a piece of leather or dense foam sheeting, it will not leave any marks behind on what ever you use it on.nice price for a 2-pack.
Cons: one of the screw holes is drilled and tapped crooked on both of the mounts leading me to believe they are factory seconds.but.... it in no way effects the function of the mount. they are crookedly straight!once mounted, the brackets are striaght, your accessoty is straight, but that stupid screw is "whopper jawed" for lack of a better term for it.
Other Thoughts: like i said, it doesn't effect it's functionality at all.excellent for mounting to a light to a long barrelled shotgun.
Bottomline: if you can live with the screws being crooked this is a real good mounting solution to for a lot of different applications.for my varmint busting .22 this mount is fine because that rifle isn't goin' to win any beauty contests anytime soon.but you may want to think twice about it for a "real nice" gun that it's appearence is as important as function to you.there are several uses other than an accessory for a rifle.
Pros: i bought this because it was a mechainical movement watch for $7.75!i didn't care about the chairman mao being on it. [no offense]i like mechanicals.it arrived in perfect condition and was wrapped in bubbles.the case is chrome plated brass with a screw on stainless steel back.the image looks just like it does in the product photos here on DX.not really a crisp clear photo, but it's ok.it has glow on the hour/min hands and a red star on the second hand.upon opening the back, i was really surprised by the build of the mechanicals!it is a jeweled movement! 18 jewels to be exact. at least that's what is stamped on the inside.a few twists of the crown and he was wavin' away just fine.it's a normal sized watch too. not a wall clock for your arm like some of the other watches. [i like 'em anyway]the strap is padded, but i don't think it's leather. at least not all of it.the outer side might be leather, it smells leathery, but i'm pretty sure the back side is vinyl.it also has a domed crystal.
Cons: it runs a little fast.i'm not going to adjust it just yet. i don't recomend most people gettin' in there to make an adjustment. it's very delicate inside a mechanical movement.one slip and you could wreck the whole thing and have take it to be repaired.that will far exeed to price of the watch too.
Other Thoughts: while the chairman mao photo and waving arm is a classic chinese novelty souveigner, this would be an excelent watch to put all differnt types of dog breeds on it.the wagging tail would be in place of the waving arm.black labs, german shepherds, beagles, all types of dogs.for rotty's and such that normally have cropped/stubby tails it would be a much shorter "arm" for the wagging tail.just my opinion but i think the dog watch would be a great selling watch.i know i would be buying a lot of them!
Bottomline: it's a great watch no matter what your opinion of chairman mao is.it's deffinately worth $7.75.it's an attention getter too.they need to make these with a variety of subjects in the photo.the above mentioned dogs, or even world leaders from the past and present.u.s. presidents would be a big hit too.they could sell all 44 presidents.great watch for a stupid cheap price.
Pros: these are great!i tested all 50 [took a while] and every one of them was between 1.58v to 1.62v.these fit so many things i can't list them all.from lasers, flashlights, and calculators, to an old timex i have that uses a battery to run an electric mechanical movement. [yes you read it right]these will cost a couple $ each in the store, but to get 50 for around $4 is crazy!came in a tray with cardbord taped to it.
Cons: none.
Other Thoughts: there have been a few items i have avoided because the replacement batteries cost more than the device.buy a couple packs of these and you'll be set for a while.
Bottomline: heck of a good buy!i will be getting more of these and some of the other batteries too.i see nothing to worry about, they all came with a full charge.
Pros: it is a very basic watch with a clean "rolex" style look.no clutter, or non functional dials.no self winding mechanisim. manual only!it does have a functioning timer ring usually associated with diving that rotates counter clock wise and clicks in place at each minute mark. [that's anti-clockwise for the other "english" speaking readers]it's a normal sized watch unlike the others here that are enormous, like sku16037, for example.has the exact same stainless steel bracelet that most of them have.easy to adjust, just punch the pin in the direction of the arrow markings.you can remove 7 links and adjust the buckle in 3 positions.it's a base meteal bezel, meaning it's chrome plated brass case, and screw down stainless back with a window.it has the same movement as sku17424, and like that one, this watch has about as unobstructed a view as you can find in a watch. everthing is very visible.unlike sku17424, this one has very visible hour and minute hands with glow paint on the entire hand making it easy to read...... even without number markers!totaly unbelievable price at around $15.i try not to tell people what i pay for the watches here, most think i'm lying when i do.
Cons: the timer ring "could" be something to pop off later.... maybe.theres nothing wrong with the one on mine, it's just an area of concern.again with the steel bracelets, pinchy and a little hair pulling usually occure.when adjusted to the right size pinchy hair pullin' is minimized.as always, the rear glass is vulnerable, and the front glass too because it's not a thicker domed crystal like some others have. it's a flat glass similar to the rear one. but that's usually a shipping issue.
Other Thoughts: after wearing "big ben" [16037] on my arm for a few months now, this one seems so small! but it is a very normal size.it came well wraped in bubbles at my request.
Bottomline: it's another nice warch for my collection that i will wear a lot.i know some one will want it so i'll probably get another.always request the extra bubble wrap through cse. it is well worth it.although extra bubbles doesn't guarantee it to get to you in one piece, it will greatly improve it's chances of surviving the POST OFFICE GORILLA that smashes these things before it arrives at your home.it's a nice simple watch, if you like it, get it. request the bubbles, and wait for it to arrive!!!it is much better looking that shown in the photos.
Pros: like the title says.... it's o.k.it has a nice finish, and a good build.blade is thick, and was fairly sharp.good enough to shave the hair off the back of my hand.the scales are aluminium, with stainless liners and torx screws throughout.it says 154cm on the blade but it's most likely bead blasted 420 or 440 series stainless steel. [gives it the frosted look, and saves on polishing time by eliminating that step]has the wire spring clip that some of the others have. i really like the wire spring pocket clips. they seem to hold their shape and keep their tension.
Cons: while looking a lot like sku19004, it's not built as good as the fake spyderco.this on says boker plus on it..... NOT.the two i got wouldn't lock with the liner at first. they needed persuaded some. but after working them in the locks got better. inspite of it looking similar to 19004, it isn't as easy to hold, and the blade is funky lookin'.
Other Thoughts: the cons are very picky. it's a decent little knife.well built for a china made knife.
Bottomline: it will make a nice gift to any one that likes knives.also makes a good carry knife.but before you give them away, work the action of the knife until it locks good. make sure it's good before letting someone else carry it.it's another good one for my colection.
Pros: awesome build quality as usual.Romisen builds outstanding flashlights.then when you factor in the low price.... it's almost crazy.but i like that kind of crazy!i believe this one shares the reflecter with the RC-N3.[possibly the RC-G2 also]without physicaly trying to swap them, they appear to be the same one. beam patterns are very similar.this one is a single mode. the side clicky is a reverse one. romisens are known to be mostly forward clickers, but this side reverse switch can be momentarily blinked once it is already turned on.runtime is about 3 or 4 hours on 2 aa's which is the only battery configuration this one has.a very bright usable beam that has a good throw and hotspot. i think it is a P3 cree.[?] [hense the model name RC-P3][again ?]it makes good use out of it though.
Cons: i wish it was a forward clicking switch.could benefit from an updated cree like a Q5 or R2.
Other Thoughts: i had to get used to using the side switch again. it operates like a d cell maglite.... but i believe this one is much much brighter than my 2D 3W led maglite.maglites are better for bonkin' on the head though. but i'm talkin' lighting capabilities here.i thought it would be cool to put the tail switch on it from my RC-N3 but the threads are different and this cap is smaller.i forgot the RC-N3 can take a cr123 lithium also, making the body wider to accept it, so the switch switching won't work. damm.it won't work off an RC-G2 either, the threads are different.
Bottomline: this is a great light to have as a general use light around the house.easy for everyone to use.some people i know have trouble grasping the light the right way with a tail cap switch, the side button is more natural, and it's what "cheap light" users are used to having."ooh! the thingy's on the side... i like that better"..... what ever lady!so i need more of these for friends and family members.in my reviews when i say i will get more of something because i like it... i really do get more of them... just so you know. :)
Pros: well, like i daid, it's cute.much smaller than i expected at about half the size of the old wesclox big ben alarm clocks i grew up with.the size makes it easier to tote around, and the mechanical wind up movement means no batteries.the back side is actually the "bell" that gets struck for the alarm to ring.the two on top are ornimental.easy to set both the time and the alarm. with the alarm using a small red needle pointing at the set time, and fairly large hour and minute hands with a little glow on them makes reading the time easier when lookin' at it foggy headed after it scares the crap out of you when the alarm goes off.it sounds like a fire alarm..... only smaller.it rings until you shut it off or it winds all the way down.if that doesn't wake you up.... some one needs to check your pulse!it has a red sweep second hand which is a little rare on alarm clocks. i haven't seen one on a wind up clock.it has a loud tick tick tick tick that i happen to like.
Cons: it has a plastic "lens", but thats not the problem, it's loose.and doesn't appear to be by accident.that's just the way it sits in the housing. it won't fall out.it also has a plastic drive train. [gears] although that really shouldn't matter because the "famous" wesclox big ben clocks did too. and they ran for years.
Other Thoughts: i like the loud tick tick tick tick of this little clock.it reminds me of the ones my granny and grampaw had when i was growin' up.i could hear the tickin' all through the house because they had more than one.
Bottomline: it's a neat little clock.it's reliable for setting it before you go to sleep when you travel away from home or visit relatives... whatever.it is not meant to be accurate for days of use on end. it will wear out.it is meant as a travel alarm clock, that's it.if you run it for long periods of time, it will not hold it's accuracy. the clock speed can be adjusted fast or slow, but mine is fine at the factory setting.it's worry free. no battery.wind it up, set the time, set the alarm, move the selector lever to the "alarm" position.... done.i will be getting more of these just because i like them.
Bottomline: it's a neat little clock.it's reliable for setting it before you go to sleep when you travel away from home or visit relatives... whatever.it is not meant to be accurate for days of use on end. it will wear out.it is meant as a travel alarm clock, that's it.if you run it for long periods of time, it will not hold it's accuracy. the clock speed can be adjusted fast or slow, but mine is fine at the factory setting.it's worry free. no battery.wind it up, set the time, set the alarm, move the selctor lever to the "alarm" position.... done.i will be getting more of these just because i like them.
Pros: it's an ok bag.medium weight "ballistic" nylon with a padded interior, outer mesh pocket, belt loop, and velcro closier.mine has a canon badge on it.includes a carrying strap.
Cons: the demensions given are for the outside of the bag, which is useless when buying a case or bag where the inside demensions are important. needless to say my fujifilm s1000fd camera did't fit.the demensions are right if they were inside measurements.... but they're not.
Other Thoughts: nice bag for other uses, or if you have a canon that will fit.it's more of an on-the-go-quick-carry bag than a store-all-my-gear-in-it bag.
Bottomline: nice bag that's well made.it was just too small for my needs. but i will find a use for it.
Pros: gives you multiple mounting options.you can mount a light to the scope, or to the barrel [only when neccessary].has a pad inside the large ring to keep from marring your scope or light.can also mount a laser in it.the positions are endless.it's built very stout. could be used on magnum rifles and large framed magnum revolvers using the picatinny[?] rail mount of the larger ring half of this mount.making it more versatile is being able to switch a light or laser from gun to gun using the rail mount.comes with the correct allen wrench for installation.
Cons: i only bought one!
Other Thoughts: it's priced at about a third to a quarter of what it is in a couple of the "discount" firearms accessory catalogs i recieve in the mail.
Bottomline: if you need to mount a light on a weapon, mainly a rifle, for whatever reason, this is all you need.it's uses aren't limited to firearms though. it could make a good bike light mount, or mount a light anywhere you have tubing to mount it to.i need more of them!
Pros: nice.best sounding ones i recieved from DX so far. they look really exspensive. the blue parts are painted aluminum, maybe anodized. they seal out ambient noise very well.good bass. plenty of wire length.i compare inexspensive earbuds to the sound quality or genuine ipod earphones because the ipod sets sound very good for all purpose listening.these compare very well to the ipod set.[real ipod, not $2 imitations]they match them in volume and clarity.because the go in the ear they are more comfortable to me and don't fall out as easy.the blue matches an ipod nano that i have very well.they are equal to some $20 earbuds i've seen in stores.these are $4.
Cons: didn't see the sissly fake diamonds until after i bought them. left wire is shorter than the right... a lot shorter.came in a plastic pouch, making resale or gifting look cheesey.
Other Thoughts: these sound great when paired with sku14823, headphone amplifier.
Bottomline: as stated above they look great, sound as good as the look.the fake diamonds can be easily removed making the earpiece look more like a six gun revolver cylinder.or a cnc machined pulley from a hotrod.[car]or if you like the sparkles just leave them on there.great as a primary set, or a really good back up set for more exspensive earphones.
Pros: nice.i bought a couple to try out and i'm glad i did.it really does work as good as the others have said. it's really tiny.at first i thought it wasn't such a big deal. but the more i listened to it the more i like it. there's not an enormous boost in the sound but it does amplify it. i didn't notice what a difference it was making until i unplugged it and used the earphones by them selves. OMG! they don't just boost sound, they boost everything. what ever brand of earphones you use. this thing will make them sound better.it'a a sound quality booster. more bass, crisper clearer treble. if your device has preset equalizer settings it enhances that too.it even makes some really shytty earbuds that came with some junk fm scanning radio i got for a $ somewhere sound better. no, they didn't transform cheapies into a $100 pair but hey did make them tolerable if your in a pinch. [like if my fat dog chewed up my good pair]it's just barely bigger than a aaa battery.... actually it's the size of two side by side together. it only runs on one aaa though.i think the best part is that it saves battery power in your device by not having to power the earphones. it added a few extra hours on the runtime of my mp3 player. i don't know how long the battery in it will last before needing changed because i havent run the first one down yet. after 5 or 6 hours of trying it out with different head phones and on different devices it's still goin' strong.a jack to jack jumper wire is included.it comes in a very nice box with a decent user manual and a minimum amount of "engrish".neat litte $7 gadget.
Cons: 3 cons1. no on/off switch.2. no seperate volume control.3. no by-pass, when the battery is low or dies.you will know when the battery is dead, it quits, and no sound goes through it.
Other Thoughts: i really like it. i know i'll need to buy more.i can't stand to listen to my tunes without it now.sounds great with a pair of genuine ipod earphones, not the $2 imitations. [they sound a lot better with this too]
Bottomline: if you listen to music through ear/headphones get one of these.it should be a law that all ear/headphones come with this amplifier!
Pros: almost!!these are nearly identical to a pair of original ipod earphones that came with a genuine shuffle.[not a clone or copy]they really do look almost exactly like the "real" ones. the only difference i see is these have a more gray ish colored wires and connecters, where the ipods have mostly white ish on them.it's hard to describe, and hard to tell thedifference looking at them, but you can see it.sound quality is, to me, almost as good as the ipod earphones.these have a slightly higher tone[?] to them, like the treble was turned up more on your home/car stereo, but do sound good.considering they are only $2, it's insane that they sound as good as they do.the materials/build quality feel identical.only they are a tiny bit larger.
Cons: the only con i can come up with right now is... these don't seem to reach as high a volume level as the ipod originals.oh, and they come in a "foiled" plastic heat sealed pouch.not a problem for me, but if someone wants to resell them it's very generic. i gueww it's better than trying to pass them off as genuine ipod accessories.they don't have the "rubber" grippy stuff on them like ipods do.
Other Thoughts: decent replacements or emergancy pair of earphones to have.these could easily hold you over 'til you could buy a set of genuine apple replacements.although you may get used to these and not worry about getting genuine ipod earthingies.
Bottomline: really surprised at the sound they have.buy several for spare pairs.or give 'em to your kids so they can lose 'em and you keep the original ipod earphones.great deal.$2 is almost giving them away, and they do sound better than some more expensive earphones that i have bought from DX.
Pros: like it says, this watch isn't really tiny, so it could be a mens watch too.it's approx 31mm wide, and 11mm thick.there's nothing to determine it feminine or masculine.the bracelet is big enough for a fairly large wrist, but can be adjusted by removing up to 7 links, and 2 positions on the buckle/clasp.it's about as unobstructed a view of the movement as you're going to find on a mechanical watch.the only way to see more of the movement would be to remove it from the chrome plated brass case.[base metal bezel]i'm not recomending taking out the guts, it's just to give you an idea of how visible it all is.it has a nice screw down stainless steel case back with a rear window.to view as much of the movement as possible, the hands are very thin, and the hour markers are very faintly marked on the inside of the crystal.nice fit and finish. no selfwinding mechanism in this one, just a simple watch that needs wound a little each day, or a little more every other day.
Cons: the only major con is that it's a little hard to read because of the thin hands and faint hour markers used to view the mechanicals.like all the watches with this steel bracelet, it's a little pinchy, and pulls hair.... on a guy.a she woman shouldn't have that particular problem.but a leather strap, or a better quality steel bracelet can be easily installed on it.
Other Thoughts: i ordered this one for my sister-in-law because i got a watch for everyone in my immediate family but her for christmas. i got her something else 'cause i didn't think she'd like these wathes...... i was wrong.
Bottomline: like all the mechanical watches i've bought from DX, it runs great and keeps very good time. i can't believe the prices.but you gotta request extra bubble wrap in the envelopes.i do it everytime i order a watch just to make sure they ship them out protected in extra bubble wrap.it's worth the extra effort to ask for the bubbles.
Pros: $2!!!it's just a simple sd card reader, but it does it's job very well.$2!!i use it for several things. usually to load pictures from my camera onto my pc.it does it with lightening speed.nice small size can be tucked away into camera bags or pocket... whatever.i also use at as a usb flash drive because.... well that's what it becomes when you plug the sd in, then this into a usb port.$2!!i've used it in my mp3 fm transmitter [sku12753]it has caps on both ends to keep the crud out.$2!!!this one is blue, my favorite color, but there are other colors available here.it's a fairly solid build, don't use like a hammer, it will last a while longer if you don't.it also has a red led to indicate a power connection. in this case, size doesn't matter. it reads an 8g card as well as 512mb card.
Cons: it's easy to lose the end caps, but that's more my fault than a product con.
Other Thoughts: by several of them. when a friend or family member needs one for some odd reason, just give 'em one.or sell 'em!
Bottomline: good little device that you almost have to have if you own anything that uses sd cards.i find it a lot faster and easier to use this card reader than to actually load and unload things from my camera, LG phone, and the mp3 fm transmitter mentioned above in this review.at $2 DX is almost giving them away.
Pros: i like 'em!got them to match a funky green ipod shuffle my girlfriend won at work. she doesn't like the standard ipod earphones.[my gain]but suprisingly these things sound really good. they do sound different than the ipods, and louder too.first thing she said was "whoa!!! BASS!".all the green parts you see are painted aluminum.i've never seen earphones made from anything but plastic.they have a really expensive feel.they seem to be well built, time will tell.sometimes louder headphones will draw more power from the ipod using up the battery faster, but these seem as efficient as the originals.of coarse the $4 price is cool.it has extra earhole gromets for big eared people too. ;)cord is plenty long enough.
Cons: package is just a heat sealed bag.fine with me, but if you are reselling them, it might make them cheeezy looking.unlike other earphones here that have a braided cord covering the lines. these don't, just regular wires.to me, the sound is 'hollow' but in a good way. i don't know how else to explain it.
Other Thoughts: not bad at all.if your prone to losing things, get a few pairs. it won't hurt so bad to lose them.
Bottomline: their nice looking, sound good, and won't brake the bank.i ordered the similar blue pair for myself.
Pros: first of all, the price is outragous.$3.50!!i bought 2.it is an adult sized watch. at just about 25cm long, it will fit some larger wrists.i was surprised by it's chromed bezel with a fixed timer ring around the flat crystal. it's fairly attractive for a cartoon watch.my girlfriend loves it.
Cons: one had the hour hand spinning loose. i took it apart and fixed it. but messed up the stem, so now when change the time i have to physically move the hand.the strap is a little flimsy.
Other Thoughts: great watch for dog lovers or Snoopy [peanuts] cartoon fans.
Bottomline: buy several at this price.a cheap little watch can bring some big happiness.
Pros: nice bright light with optional power sources.comes in a box in 2 pieces.the main part of the light and the forward click tailswtch are together for use with the cr123 battery.the extension tube is used for 2 aa option.i find the light out put to be identical between 2 aa's and a primary cr123.the runtime is longer with the aa's.it is brightest with a 3.6v rcr123.(but i don't think it's recomended)i use it with the 2 aa's mainly because i know i'll lose the extension tube if they're seperated.the fit and finish are typical Romisen... very good.has a nice wire style pocket clip that can be removed.also eguiped with a lanyard.it has a very nice sized hot spot, very bright.the throw is compareable to that of an RC-G2,only with a much larger brighter hotspot.i say that because the reflector is very similar to the RC-G2's, wich is a light well known for it's throw.this is described as having a single mode...... nope!it's a 3 mode.high-off, low-off, strobe-off.it doesn't have mode memory, but they are set up so you doen't have to cycle through them to turn it of.but you do have to cycle through to get back into the mode you were using.it's easy once you get used to it. i don't usually like moded lights, but i like this one.having a forward clicky makes it much easier.i was going to replace the glowing tail cap with a black one, but since i'll be using this in my truckit might be a good idea to leave the glower in there.at $16.99 it's priced very good for the options you have with it.
Cons: it's described as a single mode wich is what i wanted.but it is a 3 mode. although i like it now, it isn't what i thought i was ordering.others have complained about rattling batteries.they do rattle when using aa's because the 123 section is larger in diameter for obvious reasons.a thin piece of plstic or tape around the battery will quiet or at least deaden the rattles.the only reason i gave it a 4 for build quality is because of the battery rattle.
Other Thoughts: having the strobe feature on it makes it ideal for carrying it in your car/truck.the strobe makes for a perfect hazzard or emergency light.the strobe is also good for a defensive tool too.the strobe will disorient the hell out of some one in total darkness.and still does a good job of it in daylight.
Bottomline: this is a great light if you want versatility.Romisen quality combined with some niceunexpected features, and a long runtime makes it a good buy for just about anyone.i'm sure as soon as i show this to a few people that have lights from me, they're gonna want one of these too.
Pros: it's got a very good build to it,overall fit and finish is really good, i wasn't expecting it.the quality and machine work is close in comparison with romisen products!...close. ;]having a Q2 in it is at least a little more up to date than some romisens.(i hold romisens in very high regard, they are my favorite brand)it has a strong reverse click switch with a glowy cap.the hotspot is very compareable to the RC-C3, almost.it is very bright.nice size and useful light make it a good every day carry light.again... the price is also comparible to romisen models.
Cons: i thought i had a dud 'til i started diagnostic rundown on it.found the paint on the end of the body not allowing a completed circuit.had to file the paint off the body to make contact.overall just slightly, very slightly, a lesser build quality than the average romisen.has a quick release lanyard that rattles a little.hotspot is similar to RC-C3 but it lacks the trow.the old RC-G2's ancient P2 is still brighter with a hell of a lot more throw.although the clicker is strong, it needs a reverse click switch.
Other Thoughts: the cons are being picky, and using romisen as a quality indicater should tell you that these are decent lights.the name is cool... TANK 007 !!or is it TANKOO 7 ?? i don't know.
Bottomline: yet another nicely built affordable light offering from DX.it's a good one to stash around in places.it would make a good gift for a friend/relative.they'd be impressed with it's output.and at $12 it's one more unbelieveabley inexpensive super-bright lights from DX.
Pros: i got it for my girlfriend.i don't know much about the ndsl yetbut she loves it.so this was a natural "must have".it seems to be put together pretty well, about as good as a ds accessory can be.the cool part is you can hear sounds on it that weren't heard before just through the speakers. and it does sound good too.the microphone is sensitive enough, and isolated enough, to talk at lower volumes almost to a whisper.wich is great when she's using the brain age game'cause i don't think she's yellin' at me when talkin' to the dsl now.same when using the cooking trainer.loud talking or sounds in the same room can interupt the dsl,but it's eliminated when using this earphone/mic combo.good $6 item.
Cons: none.at first i thought it was a dud.but we soon figured out it wasn't plugged in all the way.....duh!
Other Thoughts: nothing more than in the pros....it makes using the ndsl a little more private since you don't have to talk loud for it to hear you correcly.
Bottomline: works great, inexpensive, and it shooshesnoisy brain age users!if you own a ndsl and want one, get it before you pay a lot more for a nintendo name product.this will save you money and works very well.
Pros: the title says it all.this one is the same watch as sku16037with the obvious differences in appearance.but the difference is really attractive.it is huge.i'll note the basics:chrome plated brass case, w/ss screw on case back w/rear window.brown padded leather strap w/gator skin pattern and ss buckle.the white face with goldtone mechanicals really pops and catches the eye.it should be as accurate and as smooth asthe other watches in the "tachymetre" series.very great looking watch, it gets oohs and wows everytime someone sees it.the price just make it that much more attractive.
Cons: none at all.although it is very prone to the rear glass breaking.this one arrived intact with bubble wrap around the important parts.(by request)
Other Thoughts: very nice, exspensive looking.do not tell any one what you paid for it.no one will believe you.DX is ahead of the coming trend of mechanical automatic watches.DX has had them for months now.i have just came from the local "mart" storewhere i saw a display featuring 10 or 15 new mech autos.probably because of the huge environmental awareness thats being pushed on us now.they are labeling these as GREEN because they don't run on batteries.so there is new interest in old technology.the prices on the "mart" store watches rangedfrom $80 to $130.they are also Chinese made.i bought it because i think they are cool looking, didn't realize i was being GREEN too!
Bottomline: this series of watches is so attractive.of coarse it's not going to have the accuracy of a quartz,or the accuracy of a multi thousand dollar rolex.but they do very well in accuracy.the sku16037 i've has since late oct 08is accurate to about 10 seconds a month now.i wear it a lot. it seems like the longer i wear it the better it runs. get one or two if you like it.they're worth it.
Pros: this knife exceeded my expectations by 1000 times.first off you notice the laminated rosewood handle with grip grooves machined in it.laminated wood is layers of wood pressed together and bonded with an epoxy.this makes the wood very tough and plastic like.on this knife it's absolutely gorgeous.the blade is a classic drop point style that is polished to a mirror shine.i suspect the blade steel is 440 stainless, there is no tang stamp, but "Solingen" is etched on the blade.the fit and finish is awesome.the pocket clip has a high polish like the blade.torx screws, pivot, and liners are polished, but not to the same sheen as the rest.makes for a little contrast. looks good.has teflon washers at the blade pivot, and it was well oiled.the lock is very positive, and easy to operate.it's sharp enough to shave the hair off the back of my hand.... and leave a little blood behind too. oops.it has the look and feel of a much more expensive knife.it's one of my favorites now.not just out of the ones from DX, but out of my collection.
Cons: none that are important.it had a small burr on the pivot screws head.i polished it off easily. now the pivot screw matches the shine on the blade too.it has a well known brand name on it,if it wasn't for it costing only $8.61i would believe it to be genuine.regardless of the name... it is a very good looking, well made knife.
Other Thoughts: it has a classic style and look with the modern design features such as the pocket clip, liner lock, and torx screws.using torx screws allows it to be disassembled for cleaning, or the unlikely event of needing repaired.
Bottomline: i love it. i'm absolutely smitten with it.i will have to deffinately get some more. i know family and friends will be begging for one.
Pros: P-4 is a good upgrade, or a mod for older lights.it has a bright white light.also a good led upgrade for the first time modifier.(like i was when i used it)it's very affordable.fairly easy to mod if you can do basic soldering, and some epoxying.comes polarized on the aluminum 16mm disc/base.still easy on batteries if using an exsisting driver in the modded light.
Cons: the P4 is getting "old".(i still like the P2 in the RC-G2)there are better upgrades now than the P4.not much else.
Other Thoughts: the Q5 is the hottest emitter for modding upgrades on a 16mm base right now.i'm still holding out for the R2 to be availible on the 16mm base.i put this P4/16mm in my test mule RC-G2.it wasn't a whole lot brighter. but it was brighter. seemed to use up the battery just a tiny bit faster.like a few minutes or so is all.great for projects like outdoor lighting,or remote area lighting.mind the voltage to 3.5v or 4v, and heat sinking is needed.
Bottomline: good cheap, quality cree led.
Pros: very simple.plug it in a 12v cig lighter socket, or 12v/110v adapter.plug in the the jack from the transmitter cable into an mp3 players headphone jack.tune your car/house stereo and thetranmitter to the same fm frequency.that's it, it's that easy.transmits very well. the closer to the stereo its plugged in,the better it works without interfierence.sounds as good as a radio stations transmission.but only as good as your stereos ability.nice blue backlit lcd screen displays the fm frequency.seems to be fairly durable.extremely simple to use, unlike some of the other fm transmitters that can be complicated until you get used to them.no remote control to lose either.and of coarse the great price.
Cons: i could only get it to work well with an mp3 player.it didn't work very well using my lg chocolate/music phone with mp3.i couldn't get it to work at all with an old sony walkman cassette player.it worked but was extremely static.(i didn't expect it to work at all)the white color will show dirt from your hands easier.
Other Thoughts: works great with a simple little mp3.good to give to someone that isn't very tech smart.(like me)i can't stress enough how simple it is to use.to run an ipod or mp3 from the vehicles power outlet. you will need to get multiple socket strips.unless your car/truck already has 2 or 3 sockets like a lot of newer vehicles do.
Bottomline: good gadget.good price.great gift.simple to use.
Pros: this knife is smaller than i thought it would be.making it a great everyday carry knife.the blade is sharp, and very thick for such a small knife.aluminum handles w/steel liners, and liner lock.it has a teflon washer/bearing and is oiled.fit and function is very good.it uses torx screws throughout... 2 screws and the blade pivot.the pocket clip is a spring wire that i was affraid would be weak and bend easy.it's not. it's a very stiff wire and it makes a good clip. it is most likely 440 st. steel. wich is still a good blade steel.over all it's a very handsome, solid feeling knife.i really like it for an edc because it's a small knife with a bigger knifes attitude because of it's build.the blade and handles are the same thickness as a knives twice it's size.it's a stumpy lil' broozer!
Cons: here's the cons. i gave it a 3 star build rating becauseit has a "spdco" on it!wich it is clearly not.after some discussion in the forums, and holding this one in my hand finally, i can clearly see that now.it's marked with the wrong blade steel, and Taiwan is spelled "tanwai". (whooops!)there are some minor blemishes on the handle, and screw fit isn't "perfect", like you'd expect from a..... spdrco.
Other Thoughts: with the cons in mind i am being very, very, picky because it has the spdrco nameon the handle.without that name on the handle, i would say this is an amazing little knife for $7!i wouldn't have mentioned any of the cons.the fit and finish are great, the function is also just as good with a very positive locking liner.the blade design is cool looking as well as functional.great multi-tasking blade, from smallgame skinning to general all purpose utility.the webbing on the handle actually aids in grip a little.the screws fit good and the knife is tightly built and finished.it's a great little knife that i really like.i like it so much that i've ordered 3 more.and probably will have to order more to fill the demand from friends/family.
Bottomline: great knife. if it didn't have the spdco name on it,i would have given it 5 stars for build too.but as it is, it's not a spdco.a comparible model, if it existed, would cost 8 or 10 times the amount this one does.but as it is now... a $7 knife, it's a great, very cool looking knife.as stated, i have, and will buy more of these.it's a great little fat knife waiting for a pocket to live in.
Pros: bought this for my girlfriends PINK DS Lite.she managed to get every thing she has for her dsl into this bag. EVERYTHING.it's mostly made of what's called balistic nylon.so it's tough.mesh, and zippered compartments inside and out.it's basicaly built like a camera bag for the dsl.has an adjustable shoulder strap.outer flap has a nice official looking ndsl logo.
Cons: even though it gives the measurements on this product page,it is much smaller than expected.so i think the price is a little high, wich is so unlike DX.even though it's smaller than expected my little woman has it stuffed with everthing for her dsl, but it is really crowded.another problem, wich just might be the biggest gripe from me, and others, that have reviewed it.it's wildly off balance.the strap attatchments are to low on the case making it top heavy.you can't carry it without it driving you nuts flipping over all the time.do not dare to open it while it's hanging by the strap unless you are holding on to it with the other hand at all times.if you open it while hanging by the strap, it will dump it's contents out on the floor, the ground, the road, in mud, or in the very inconvenient, and dsl life ending ingredient, creek water.you don't really want to know about the creek water... trust me.it's just too small and wobbly.
Other Thoughts: it looks nice. it is well built.its just to small.i guess if you don't need to keep all your dsl stuff together, this will be perfect.except for the wobbly part.
Bottomline: to small, to wobbly, to exspensive.if it was bigger, and the factory moved the strap attatchments up higher so it will hang better, then i'd buy another one.as it is now.... no.
Pros: very clean, no frills, no nonsense pair of watches.split the price & it's $17 each. very affordable.these are truly full automatic, as winding by the stem doesn't seem to do much for it. these wind with the slightest of movement. unlike some that need to be shaken more vigorously. i believe it has overwind protection.pull the stem to set the time, like a normal watch.two revolutions per day to change the date. can be turned backwards to change date too.very nice high luster chrome plating, screw on stainless back w/window to see movement.adjustable bracelets by 6 links, and 3 positions on buckle.faces are a machined aluminum, but look almost like mother of pearl in product photo's.front and rear crystals are glass, with a date magnifier.these are sized more proportionately, and are not as huge as some of the other watches here.both watches share the exact same movement. there's a substantial amount of metal in the men's as compared to the ladies.
Cons: the bracelet is a little pinchy with hairy arms, so your wife/girlfriend will need to shave her arms.. just kidding.(?)but it is a little pinchy with hair.also don't be alarmed when setting the date and the second hand stops. it disengages when the stem is pulled like a quartz watch does. i have never seen a mechanical do that before.
Other Thoughts: great looking pair.they have that familiar "rolex" look without the price.of coarse that's an unfair comparison too. although there is no reason these shouldn't run well for a long time if cared for properly.
Bottomline: very nice for when the little woman decides you are wearing matching clothing to go out somewhere!great gift for your parents or any matched pair of people you might know.OR a two watch set for yourself. the ladies watch is smaller but not tiny, and a smaller wristed man could wear it without worry of it looking too small and girly.can't beat the price. two nice mechanical automatics for the cost of the average ?-mart quartz watch.
Pros: comes as a matched pair, obviously.the price, as always, is one of the best features. splits to $17 each.it's an automatic, all you have to do is shake it up and it runs. this one is a little different than the others on DX.you can sometimes hear it wind when you move your arm. i think it has overwind protection built in. the stem turns and turns without tightening on both watches. the gear teeth have a very fine click when winding compared to other watches. time is set like any normal analog watch, pull the stem and set it. the time has to be spun twice around to the day needed. but it will go backwards too.stainless screw on back with a window, and a very highly polished chrome bezel.the bracelet is adjustable by the buckle pins and by removing up to 6 links on the mens, and 7 on the ladies.the sizes of these are in better proportions than some of the other HUGE watches sold here. the MENS is about 37mm wide, by 12mm thick.the LADIES is about 31mm wide, and 12mm thick. both use the same identical movement.they have what i believe to be glass crystals/lenses. both with date magnifier.the dial/face looks a little like mother of pearl in the DX pics, but they appear to be machined aluminum.the overall fit and finish is very very good. much more impressive, and exspensive looking than they appear in the photos. nice watche set.
Cons: pinchy bracelet with hairy arms. can be changed to leather easily though.being picky and passing on a little caution to not freak out when you set the watch for time/date, the second hand stops moving like a quartz watch does. the first time i thought it was broke, but it supposed to do that.
Other Thoughts: they're so nice i hate to give them away as Christmas presents, but that's what i got them for.i think i'll get the black faced set for myself.
Bottomline: $34 for two automatics is unreal!great quality.very good looking familiar design.if you like this style watch, this is a great way to afford an automatic mechanical, without buying a rolex for thousands of $$$$. or a sieko for a thousand $$$ not stating these are as good, but it is a great alternative.
Pros: great price, $6.very solid build.everything was tightly fit, adjusted, and oiled.the handles are painted steel, and not aluminum.before i made this statement,i took a magnet to it to make sure it was steel, and there are no liners for a magnet to stick to either.so the handles are steel.the spring loaded bar that locks it is very unique, and super easy to use.it locks very positive.it's held together with torx screws.the blade is short, approx 55-56mm, 2mm thick, and 31mm tall. it arrives very sharp.the whole thing is very slim at 7mm thick, and 14.5cm open, and fits well in my front pocket using the clip.it comes with one of the nicest cases/pouches i've ever seen on an inexpensive knife, a case like this in a store would cost well more than the whole thing at DX. but i will use the clip more than the case.the stubby little blade is meant to be a close quarters combat weapon, and the handle fits very comfortabley in the palm of your hand.gives a lot of control.BUT i've found it to be a great whittling/carving knife for the same reasons, great control, and strong blade.i don't know if it's paint or not, but the finish seems to be very durable.
Cons: the pocket clip is a little weak, but easily bent back in shape or removed.
Other Thoughts: it'a great little knife, and one that would make a good back up knife in your boot, a jacket pocket, or where ever.or just the britches pocket.
Bottomline: nice well made tool as well as a weapon.nice case too.$6!!!i'll probably get more to hand out to friends and family, and stash a few around.
Pros: well... it is pretty!it looks a thousand times better in your hand than in the picturesthe fit and finish are excellenthigh polish chrome bezel, screw on stainless back with a window, some of the screws in the back of the movement are blue.sounds tacky until you see it, nice touch.the white face with the heart cut outs gives it a very female girly look, the face has little hearts all over it too.as you can see in the pictures it has bright blue hands. they look really sharp, and make it easy to see.some of these cut out watches can be hard to tell time when the hands blend in with the mechanism.the steel bracelet is adjustable at the buckle with pins, and 6 links can be removed from the bracelet.so it should fit just about anyone.the daybird brand seems to be of very good quality.more than expected from an $18 watch.
Cons: to be a watch decorated "mostly" for females,it's a little on the large size, about 38mm accross, 12mm thick.although i've seen them bigger at the mall for a lot more money, and without the coolness of a mechanical automatic.the bracelet is a little hard to adjust, until you figure it out.it's easier if it taken off the watch.that reduces the risk of scratching and maybe breakin' the glass.it's also a little pinchy, but that's with my hairy arm, shouldn't be a problem for lady's though.(don't get the wrong idea... i got it for my girlfriend... OK!)
Other Thoughts: these would be nice with the brass/gold movements too.leather bands would also be very nice.it's easy to change the bracelet to a leather band, so it's not that big of an issue to buy it that way from DX.
Bottomline: very nice watch, great price, and a great build.i also got the black one.both arrived intact and working fine.extra bubble wrap can be requested.
Pros: it is small.very lightweight, you can hang it on your t-shirt collar and forget it's there. it has a pocket clip that can be removed.steel liner backbone frame has steel handle scales.inner frame mechanism is hinged in the middle with a pivot plate at the rear, and one to the blade at the front, along with the blade pivot in the front of the backbone. when opened it clicks locked until you squeeze the rear of the knife together it unlocks, and will bring the blade all the way to the closed position if squeezed to hard.it's put together almost entirely with torx screws. except for the 3 pivot points of the mechanism, they are pinned.it is a suprisingly solid build, dispite it's flemsy look.it's held shut, and helped open by a coiled spring at the rear.the blade is relatively sharp, i could shave hair on my hand, but it could use a few trips on a steel, or a good wetstone. it's at least a 400 series stainless that's painted. the paint can scratch but so far appears to be pretty durable.can be opened/closed just by squeezin' the rear, but ya gotta use caution to not cut yourself when closing. it'll bite you if your not careful.the DX price is great. $5 for a knife mechanism i've never seen before.you won't see one at that price if you see one at all.
Cons: none. it's a neat little knife with a very unique mechanism.
Other Thoughts: well i made a tool of myself gloating that i knew a secret about the knife.....turns out it's not broke in enough yet and wasn't opening all the way to the locked position. DUH!i still think it's a very slick design.
Bottomline: can be a little tricky to operate this small one. it is tiny.i'm gonna get the bigger versions too. it's just too cool to not get the others.
Pros: pretty cool.i've seen these in other catalogs and websites for $30 to $40. so of coarse DX beats their prices by a mile.to use it, just plug it in the 12v socket in your car/truck, or a 110v house plug-in adapter. tune the radio and modulator to the same frequency. lower frequencies are more available, but i have noticed the higher freq sound better.(?) those freq are usually busier and driving around will result in interference. it's easy to change it though.the build quality is ok. don't use it as a hammer.it sounds really good, and you can change the eq setting, normal sounds best to me. and it is stereo.it remebers last song # but not it's place. that's better than starting over at the begining ever time. the display is bright and displays type of media input device, freq, and mp3 title. it even displays hello when you plug it in, for that warm fuzzy feelin'.the remote is fully functional, but you can do almost everything without it. (try not to lose it)has three inputs for media. sd, flash, and direct input from ipd/mp3.allows you to put digital music just about anywhere there's an fm reciever.
Cons: it doesn't read wma files. it says it does, but it doesn't. i nearly beat my head into a tree trying to figure it out. with the help of the DX forum, i found out it HAS to be MP3 files. everything i had was wma. you gotta convert it.if you loose the remote, you can't change the eq, and you have to push the button all the way through to the song you want. a pain when you have 600 songs on a flashdrive. you could have several flashdrives with only certain types of music on each one. THAT is going ten steps backward after taking one forward. again, don't lose the remote!! with the remote you put in the # of the song you want.the modulator might be a little delicate, but like i said, it's not a hammer. when it's plugged in the light from the display shows through the thin plastic outer shell. i don't think it would shine through the black version.you can't see the display when your using it in a car, even worse in a truck. once you get used to the functions, you don't have to look at the display. range is about 3ft max for the remote, you gotta be close. the range from the modulator to the radio is about 15ft. wich is o.k. it's for a car.gets hot when used with a house hold adapter. could be adapters fault though. would be nice if it had an on off switch. some cars have the power at the 12v socket turn off with the key, so you can leave it plugged in all the time. mine are constant 12v all the time, so i have unplug it. on a real cold night it would be enough to drain my battery if i left it on.... needs on/off feature.
Other Thoughts: i got a 110v to 12v adapter to use in the house, barn, shed, whatever. pretty cool to hear music you would never hear on the radio anyway coming out of the speakers on an old radio. kinda puts new life in those old relics. best part is using it in my old beater truck that only has am/fm/cb.i know there is a world of better technology out there, but i like to keep the old stuff alive. i don't know if it was designed with that in mind, but i use it that way. it's cool.
Bottomline: great toy as long as you use mp3 and not wma files. if wma's work in yours, congrats.i plan on buying more of these. i know some others that will be just as easily amused as i am with it.
Pros: all the reviews are accurate. this is a very well made knife. of coarse the DX price is always unbelieveabley low.the blade is a tanto style, in what is probably 440 stainless steel. that design provides a very tough point. i see more and more military issued knives with this blade. it's very effective in penatrating thin metal, like car door steel for example. i'm not suggesting you go around punching holes in car doors, but in an emergancy sitiation it's very effective. it came pretty sharp right out of the box.. sharp enough to shave the hair off the back of my hand. i think it has a teflon coating on the blade instead of just paint. but it does have teflon washers as bearings at the folding joint. well oiled too. it has stainless liners and the ever popular liner lock mehcanism that's now found in the majority of locking knives. with the addition of the thumb stud on the blade it makes one hand operation possible, and easy. the handle/scales are aluminum. the checkering on the grip is machined into the handle, and not a sticker like some knives i've seen. the coating has a rough texture for grip, so it's not just paint. the liners form a place for a lanyard to be attatched. there is a pocket clip that can be removed, but i find it more useful than the pouch it came in.the build tolerances are very tight, and the blade clicks into place with a positive "CLICK". the whole thing is held together with torx screws, (except for the pivot, it's an allen head) so it can be completely disassembled for cleaning.it's a medium sized knife(to me) that's good for edc.the overall finish is really good, and it just looks cool.
Cons: none.expect normal wear and tear of the "painted" surfaces, but mechanically it should last a LONG time.
Other Thoughts: not exactly sure of the blade steel's material. it has a gerber(?) trademark painted on the blade but there is no tang stamp. it's just a guess that it's 440. don't know if it's a genuine gerber or not...... don't really care, it's a nice knife with or without the name.
Bottomline: great knife, cool design, good build quality, and priced right. i'm buying more as gifts, and back ups to have. the price and product are a lot better than knives i've seen and ordered from the "discount knife catalog" i get in the mail.
Pros: this thing is so simple, yet without it there is no way i could do something as complex as converting cassette tape recordings into digital format.it so easy, just plug it in. it seems to be built strong enough to last a long time, and it's just the right length to reach around to the back of my pc.it's extremely useful to me. i originally got it just to convert my Grampaws music from cassette to digital, then i realized i can convert all those old tapes i have, that i can't find on cd. and my (V8) car engine recordings too. anything on tape. (woo hoo) anything played through a headphone jack can be saved on the pc, digital or not, using this simple little cable.it transmits media perfectly.
Cons: NONE
Other Thoughts: originaly i bought this, as a recomendation from another DX customer, to transfer cassette recordings that are of my Grampaws group from the 1940's. the recordings were on a vynyl record, then recorded to reel to reel tape. in the 1970's they made their way to cassette tape. i have a copy, of a copy, of a copy.. ect. with this little cable, i can play this on an old sony walkman cassette player,(i have a survivor), on to my pc, and into a program i downloaded from the net. from there i can clean up the tracks and burn it onto cd's. COOL.i know it's not the latest in hi tech gear, or gadgets, but it's allowing me to bring music literally from the "stone age" into at least 1990's technology. i can mp3 it, and make cd copies for the rest of the family.... for a price.. maybe. all that for a little simple $1.60 cable.
Bottomline: if you need a dual 3.5mm jack ended cable. here it is. record anything to your pc from an outside sorce.it would have cost me a lot more than $1.60 to have someone convert that tape for me. i can do it myself now.that's very cool to me.
Pros: Love it. it's huge, but impressive.runs smooth, and accuratley.screw on stainless back with window. the decorative dials look expensive and busy, but it just simply tells time.the strap/band is padded leather with "gator" or lizard texture. looks, smells, and feels like leather. big watch, but fits my small wrist nicely, no extra holes punched in the band. very nice finish on case. stainless steel? chrome plated "metal"? probably ???love it !!!
Cons: none with the watch at all, but one. the rear window is prone to breaking during shipping. wich makes this more of a shipping problem. DX is considering putting these in little boxes, the way flashlights are pakaged. i hope so. mine was broken, but i fixed it myself instead of sending it back. DX customer service was great. if you have a problem, give them a chance to fix it.
Other Thoughts: it's a great watch. there are a lot of nice watches on DX. i plan to buy more. i hope they start using boxes soon.
Bottomline: you can get one of these automatics for what a cheap quartz would cost in the store. they both will tell time, but the auto will be a lot more interesting.
Pros: hey, these are great. the price is very low for the quality.they sound really good in my pc, and pretty good in my LG chocolate, with mp3.sound is isolated well when you use the correct ear gasket for your ears.it has a very good bass thump. keep in mind these are $4 earbuds i am talkin' about, not $20 or $30.the wires are covered with a braided nylon(?) sleeve over all. there are three sets of earpieces, so one of 'em should fit.they will impress "regular folks" too, so they will be great as gifts. even music snobs will like these , at least as a decent backup set for their more expensive ones.the sound is very loud and clear.
Cons: none too big.they transmit a lot of bumping noise from the cables to the earbud. but it is not electrical and drowns out when music, or whatever, starts. i said the sound is pretty good in my LG choc., but really good in my pc. the power from the pc is more consistant, but in my choc, like most mp3 players, the sound level will drop a little because of the power supply, and the unit trying to save as much energy as possible. also if i campare these to the ones that came with the LG choc., they're not as good. the ones that came with my choc. are very high quality. this phone was given to me,(almost thrown away), and all i use it for is the mp3. i would hate to buy the same earphones frome LG, if i can still get them, i'm guessing the cost to be $50 to $75. but i'm not to sure 'cause i ain't found them yet.when compared to really expensive ones, they do have a slight "echo in a bucket" sound. it's not that bad, but it is there.
Other Thoughts: these are very good general use earbuds. but are capable of playing really good music in clear stereo sound.
Bottomline: they are worth all 438 pennies. i bought two sets, and will probably order a few more soon. they are good replacements for a lot of devices. they have made some of my cheaper junky devices sound much better than i thought they could.read the other reviews, most are very accurate. they're very good earbuds.
Pros: this thing is pretty cool.it does what it's suppossed to do, split sound.plug in 'n go, it's that easy.the plugs fit snug, and "snap in" positively.seems to be durable and strong, well built. sound is split into stereo on both sides, and is distributed equaly between headsets.makes it easier to share your music, or whatever, with someone privately.can be used with headset and speakers at the same time (don't know why anyone would do that, but you can), or run two sets of speakers together and spread out the sound,(great for around a campfire)giving it a somewhat surrounding effect, when used with a battery powered amplifier.i didn't notice any sound quality issues.the price is really great. you cannot buy this for under $10 or $15 in my area.
Cons: none really.there is only the slightest, faintest, teeny tiny bit of sound volume drop when adding the second headset, but that is to be expected from a device that cost a DOLLAR FIFTY SIX.
Other Thoughts: works great with all the headsets i have, and i tried them all on this. the good ones sound good, and the crappy ones are still crappy. no change in headset quality.
Bottomline: nice to have so i can share my tunes with my girlfriend. now we will fight over control of the t.v. remote at home, and mp3 player everywhere else.
Pros: this is a very nice magnifier. it is built very solidly. i don't know if it is an actual 20x magnifier, but it is strong. the lense on both of mine are made of one solid piece of glass, and not multiple lenses. this makes it very durable. it can be taken apart to clean or repair. the lense is held in place with a threaded ring similar to what you might find in a watch, or flashlight. the part that pivots is aluminum. the body is made of... well i think it is chrome plated brass. it has some heft for it's size. there is a spot for a lanyard. it needs it too because it's very small and could be lost if it's not tied to something. one of the best things about this loupe is it's unbelievable price, under $3/free shipping. it comes in a plastic display box with a foam insert so it should arrive safely. the other nice thing about it is the clearness of the lense. minute details show up very clear. that's what it's supposed to do.
Cons: very small and easy to lose. sometimes it is difficult to get enough light in the area to be able to see. you have to hold it close to your eye and that tends to block light. that's to be expected with any handheld loupe this small. other than some grinder marks that were chromed over, that do not effect it's function, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Other Thoughts: you will find yourself lookin' for things to magnify (unless of coarse you already own a jewelers loupe and the coolness has worn off). it's great for inspecting small work, and identifying anything that's small and hard to see. use it in series with a larger magnifier to increase it's power. i was able to read identifying marks on an old double barrel shotgun that were probably worn off before i was born.... long time ago. it works very well.
Bottomline: unless i lose it, i should not have to replace this particular loupe. i bought two so i'd have a spare. both are of equal quality. it's a good buy.
Pros: has a pretty good boost for 1.5v aa powered lights.(RC-G2) once i got it on high it was noticeably brighter.(i'm still using the P-2, but have a P-4 to swap in) the lower light levels are nice to have. they extend battery life. sometimes the single mode lights are way to bright for some situations and will blind you when using it for upclose work. the lower modes will save your night vision. it does seem to have memory so you can turn it back on in the same mode. the strobe features are ok. they're supposed to be good for disorienting an attacker. the price is very good. it can give your older cree/ssc flashlight a whole new life.
Cons: ground wire was broke off when i got it. pokin' around with a volt meter with it hooked to a battery i was able to find where to solder it back on. i looked at the pictures here on DX to get an idea where it should go. found it, and it works. the modes can be a little tricky. i'm not sure i have found all 20 modes yet. if you use this with a reverse clicker switch, i can see it possibly failing prematurely due to all the button pushin'. i think one of the strobes is a little too fast. try not to look at it when it's on strobe 'cause it can make you a little dizzy. (not really, but it does get you're attention) when it was on high i could hear a very slight squeal. it's not that loud to me, but my dog really noticed it. it didn't spook her or hurt her ears but she noticed it. so if you're usin' it around wild life, or critters that spook easy, you might want to be cautious and keep it on lower modes. might have to trim it a little to get it to fit a pill, but thats to be expected with most drivers.
Other Thoughts: i don't really see how all those modes are usefull. if you can figure it out maybe it is. i'm never sure exactly what mode it's in. just when i thought i had it on high, i screw around with it and find a higher mode. i've seen some instructions on a post here that linked me to CPF. but i haven't found the right combination to work for me. when i do find a high mode, it really cooks. i'm afraid i might damage the P-2 if i run it that high for very long. should definately be used with at least a cree P-4, or Q-5. i think the ssc P-4 will benifit from the high settings of this driver too. using a forward clicker switch makes it a little easier, and silent because of the momentary contact feature of forward clickers. when you find the mode you want, click it on with one click instead of click click click click click........ it's annoying. not good for the luxeon 1 watt i had. it turned it very blue on higher modes. way overdriven, got hot, probably damaged it sevierely. no big deal, it's ONLY a luxeon.
Bottomline: output on high is pretty good, and the option for different levels of light can be usefull, but i think more than 4 or 5 modes is just too much to try to figure out. way to confusing if you used it in a tactical defense situation. it does work very well, and is priced really low for what it does. figure out the modes and you'll have a very versatile light, or whatever you drive with it.
Pros: great little card. price is very good, you will not see these in the stores priced anywhere near as low as DX. price runs about $15 to $20 more. easy to use, and works just as well either way, the micro by itself, or with the adapter. i'm using it in a LG vx8500 cell phone that has an mp3 player built in. i have 300 songs on it now and still have over 400mb left. my computor shows it to have 946mb after it was formatted and before i loaded any music on it, so it seems to truly be 1g or at least very close. i haven't put any pictures or video on it yet, so i don't know how well it will handle that type of media. it should do as well as any other 1g sd card. very satisfied with it's performance.
Cons: only a couple very minor, i wouldn't say cons, but just a note to be aware of. in some of my other devices, (i tested it in all my stuff to see how well it fit), the adapter was a little tight and slow to pop out. maybe after some use it will fit a little better. but that's it. the micro fits perfectly in my lg vx8500's micro sd slot, and in it's adapter. it didn't have a little case like some of them do, but i'm really getting nit picky with that one. the "cons" are unimportant in comparison to the performance.
Other Thoughts: it's a very handy little gadget to have. i think all sd cards should have the micro inserts. it broadens the range of devices you can use with just one or two cards. i'm not sure how high the micros capacity can go,(8g? 16g? higher?) so that might be the only real advantage the larger sd has over the micro. DX has that covered too.
Bottomline: great gadget. i love it. i'm still amazed at how all that music fits on that little card, but it does, and it rocks. very cool. if you have a device that needs a micro sd, and you already have some that use sd cards, this is for you. go ahead and look around, and see how high they are priced elsewhere. then come back here to DX and order a couple. read the reviews of this product, look at how many 25 star ratings it has. it's a very good product at a rediculous price.
Pros: not a bad little light. mine said romisen on it istead of saik. so you know the build quality is great. nice fit and finish. good battery life, about an hour and a half before it starts to dim. running the older p2 gives it a slighty longer run time. didn't notice it getting hot, except when i used a nmh rechargeable. even then it just got warm.very slender design and smooth finish make it a good one for the pocket.i believe it has the same interals as the rc-g2, but with the smaller reflector, it doesn't have the throw. but still very good. reverse clicker feels pretty strong, and is not glued in. it can be swapped out, or serviced. on one of mine the switch assembly itself comes apart, unscrews, allowing the replacement of the switch with some of the ones sold here on DX.
Cons: none major. body wall seems to be a little thin, but still seems to be durable. although the switch is strong, a forward clicker would be nice. i've gotten used to romisens having forward clickers, maybe they'll change this one soon.
Other Thoughts: nice for edc. good for gifts to get others into flashlights too. (sometimes they show interest, most of the time they don't). good light to introduce you to the "newer" cree style led's. if you don't own a cree by now this is a ggod place to start. they just get brighter and brighter after this one.
Bottomline: good work horse of a light. bright enough to do most tasks, inexpensive enough to buy several and place them around the house, barn, garage, and car. good little light.
Pros: this was the second light i bought from Dx back in feb of 08. i couldn't believe the price.it has a very nice blue anodized finish. the build quality is pretty good, all the threads felt good and the body feels solid. the switch is a decent reverse clicky that feels sturdy.it's easy to use, push the button.runs on one aa. small enough to be an edc light.i think it has a runtime of something like 8 years... i don't really know, but it runs quite a while on one battery.
Cons: no where near 5 watts. not even 1/2 a watt. the keychain lanyard is the first thing to go, it isn't very strong. it has a quick release buckle on it that can comes apart pretty easily. i lost mine one day because the buckle came undone. (i guess that's my clumbsy ass fault, but i found it later)it can be swapped out easily with another lanyard.(duh)the "pill" is glued into the head/bezel making it a real pain to get apart. it looks like a good host for a mod if you can get it apart. the switch feels strong, but it's just pressed in the tail section. the switch is not threaded, but the tail section is threaded all the way. it's just not very bright at all.i don't know why the factory put such nice anodizing on a decently designed light body, then filled it full of junk parts.
Other Thoughts: with the "cons" in consideration, this is only a $3-$4 light. you get exactly what you paid for. it's not very bright, but it does light up.it would make a great modded light once you get it apart, (with out destroying it). that electric blue color is just so cool looking. the manufacturers need to put that finish on some of the more expesive, better performing lights.
Bottomline: they're ...ok.. if you don't need a real bright light. the price is rediculously cheap, so buy a bunch if you buy any. even with it's low performance people still want them 'cause they look so cool.make good gifts for "normal people that aren't flashlight crazy" !!! no offense intended, i am "flashlight crazy" and still like this light because it's BLUE !!!!.
