Pros:

+ if you are constantly misplacing your keys at home, then this could be a soluction for you.
+ the whistle is loud.
+ overall it is a well thought out design, the bird sits snuggly in its house.
+ the box is elegant, with highlights of silver foil.
+ it appears to be a solid keychain, solid metal rings, strong plastic
- the boxes came through the mail undamaged, even the post mistress dropped the package in front of me from waist height, with no ill effects.
+ a lot cheaper than local gadget shop prices

Cons:

- the bird is ~6cm in length so maybe it is a bit bulky for a pocket.
- sharpish beak kind of confirms that this keychain isn't really suitable for a pocket. great for a handbag though (my gf told me).
- the box suffers slightly from chinglish, let me quote the following passage: "He can whistle to make noise and ask for help when emergency and keep your keys in the safe place."

Bottomline:

i have been meaning to request this product for a long time, so it was a nice suprise to see that this was in the cataolgue at DX. i ordered 7 for stocking fillers. i am thinking about ordering more for our own use for spare keys and the likes.

Pros:

+ cheap earphones.
+ no pointless packaging, so better for the environment than those that come in oversized boxes.
+ they sit comfortably in the ear
+ they are aesthetically pleasing

Cons:

- wire mesh missing from the speaker
- R upside down, as per other peoples reviews
- sound quality is poor, in comparison to previous "beats" from dx. sound lacks mids and highs.

Other Thoughts:

¤ the driver housing is not glued onto it's mount. although this makes them more likely to come apart, this also means that they are less likely to cause permanent damage under stress (sat on for example).
¤ i think the condements of the box and it's included components do take away something from the earphones. though i bought them knowing this was missing and for the price, it can only be a neutral comment.
¤ i bought several pairs of these to add as stocking fillers for people. though, considering the and sound quality, i don't think i will bother and keep them for personal use.
¤ having seen dx being able to sell a boxed version of these for 8 dollar more, with markedly better build quality on the earphone i feel that this deal could have been just that little bit better. but expecting much for an item costing a few dollar is being a little cheeky.

Bottomline:

if you are looking for a set of earphones to save damage to a more expensive set, then get this. just don't expect that much from them though.

Pros:

* very good quality batteries
* branded sony
* the batteries are used in many things in my house, from kitchen scales to dodgy chinese watches. having a pack or two of these at hand comes in very handy.

Cons:

* the blister pack may not be glued on properly. coming away from the plastic.
* the plastic is not perforated, so they cant be torn off anyway.
* i'm not sure they are genuine sony, though i may be wrong.

Bottomline:

it is very handy having a pack or two of these lying around if you have devices that use this kind of battery. they are ultra cheap for what you get.

Pros:

* these are a great product, on their way to becoming a modern classic.
* i first saw these nearly 10 years ago, and the price then was around £5 for one.
* simple, easy to use.
* they are so cheap.

Cons:

* because they are so cheap, you may feel inclined to give them away. by doing this, the one or two you are left with become decisively expensive.

Other Thoughts:

i had a dinner party the other day and gave one of these to an engineer, who was immediately impressed, next to him was an accountant who was a bit dissapointed that he hadnt been given one, so i had to give him one, i went around the table giving away nearly a whole ten pack.
this is the same group who got one of these each last year.
it was like a disco for a few minutes whilst they had great fun turning these on and off.

Bottomline:

it is very easy to be liberal with these, giving these away willy-nilly. i say dont do that, by doing that you are undermining the ingenuity of these things.
if i had 5 items from dx i could take with me on a desert island, this would be one of them.

Pros:

* cheap enough for what it does.
* i have bought two, one for a strobe light and one for useful-for-me-light
* it seems very durable
*velcro allows for a quick release of the light/holder, should you need to park the bicycle in a city.
* it happily holds the light whilst on a road surface
* it can hold a wide variety of diameters.

Cons:

*to get less wobbling of the light means finding the centre point of balance on the torch, its not that hard to do, but it still needs to be done. the shorter the torch it is holding, the less it will wobble.

Bottomline:

it is a good product, if you are in the market for something like this. it is cheap enough, it is simple enough to use, and it allows for a quick release from the bike, which is very useful when we have to leave the bike in a communal situation.

Pros:

* i was very impressed with the way this was packaged
* it looks just like the ones that the jewellers have.
* it comes in a plastic case, and a retail box, if you are looking to resell.
* scratch free lens
* it puts a jeweller on their back foot, if you bring one of these babies out whilst looking at diamonds.

Cons:

* all in all, there are no cons for me

Other Thoughts:

if you are thinking of buying some diamonds, or doing some electronic work, then buy one of these, its simple enough to use, and it should do the job you intend it to do.

Bottomline:

* i bought one of these on the advice of a jeweller before going out looking at engagement rings.
* so far its served its purpose. if you are unsure about which jewellers are decent in your area, or if you are going to a new area to look for diamonds, then bringing your own loupe is a must. dont forget to bring a little torch also, to make sure the lighting is right.

Pros:

* they are so expensive IRL that makes these things unique
* sound quality is nice enough (though there is also a con here)
* 3 cases, for those of you who cant choose.
* comes with an "exclusive" miles davis cd
* the speaker unit looks more genuine than the other monsterbeat headphone models sold on chinese sites
* nice colour coding so you know which is left and right without having to think about it too much
*they are beautifully packaged, with plastic protecting them in the right places.

Cons:

* unlike the turbine pro, the housing unit isnt all metal, but has plastic in it, thats a big let down, whether this is so on the real one, that would make it even more so IRL
* there is no 6.35mm convertor supplied with these.

Other Thoughts:

i am happy i have got my turbine pro's as well. :D

Bottomline:

these are great headphones.
if you have a family member who is into jazz, i think that these could make a very special gift.
however, i prefer the fake turbine pro's which are no longer sold on dx (they are a different SKU now, so chances are that they are not the same).
as such i would buy these rather than risk the turbines sold on here now.

Pros:

- the headphones are a bit bling
- they work ok, the sound isn't all that bad
- nicely packaged
- a nice present for a 13 year old girl

Cons:

- the cable doesn't look right.
- i gave this pair away to a friend for his girlfriend, she wasn't impressed with the way they sat in her ear, saying that the speaker mount is too big.
- these things will look seriously dated before long.

Other Thoughts:

if you have the choice between these and the dr dre version, go with the dre, no doubt about it.

Bottomline:

good for girls.

Pros:

* these things are solidly built
* they are kinda worth a high price tag its still like 17% of the original price
* for those of you who bought the dre beats from here and enjoyed those, they pale in comparisson.
* solid metal driver housing
* fantastically packaged.

Cons:

* i don't think i would risk sending them in on the lifetime warranty. which is part of where the original high price tag comes from.
* i don't think i will use anything else from now on, i need to buy another pair.

Other Thoughts:

if you're buying these, then RTFM on putting these in, also choose an eartip which is right for you.

Bottomline:

fantastic product here, as monster beat put it.
"life is too short to listen to bad headphones"

Pros:

* it works ok
* fantastic novelty item
* well packaged
* easy enough to clean
* easier to use than a dyson
* cheap for what it does

Cons:

* dont expect fantastic sucking power from a 5v USB device
* just use the hose, not the brush device, there is not enough sucking power for that attachment

Other Thoughts:

if you are a geek who wants to take dust from their keybpard then you should get it, if you want to do anything else with this, then jsut use your normal vacuum cleaner

Bottomline:

i bought this device to make it easier to give my keboard a little clean once in a while, and it does that job well enough.
however, if you are that concerned about clean keyboard then your household vacuum cleaner will do a better job. but it is no where near as geeky enough, not since the 1900s anyhow.
i think you should buy this if you have a few dollars to waste.

Pros:

* looks like a creative zen stone, in a way
* comes with a functioning IR remote

Cons:

* no memory on the last station played
* very weak signal, makes it impossible to use.
* it is a cheap product and i think that even at this price it is over priced.
* possibly the worst buy i have ever made at DX. if you are looking at a FM transmitter, then please look else where, this one is a waste of time.

Other Thoughts:

i bought as a back up to an ipod only FM transmitter, we now have a zune as well, so i thought this would go well in the car. but at the end of the day, it just does not work. i am really disapointed with this purchase, so i advise you to spend just a couple of more dollars and get smething that actually works.

Bottomline:

the bottom line is this, it looks pleasing, even if a few years out of date, the creative zen design thought is plain to see.
however, for me, it does not work back to using the old ipod fm transmitters sold here, theyre far better.

Pros:

* it has a solid feel to it, though the inner workings will have something to do with that.
* it gives a nice spray of water.
* it helps a little with being able to see the temperature of the water before you step into the shower, no more "how long does it need to warm up?!?!" any more.
* it looks a little more expensive than it is and in my opinion, not too tacky, which was a worry when i placed the order.

Cons:

* there is a delay between the temperature change and the change in LED colour, i would place that at around a second or so.
* i wouldnt be too keen on opening up the shower head to clean it, so i guess it won't last too long before mildew sets in.
* it is definately not bright enough to light up more than a shower cubicle.
* there is no massage feature, its just a simple spray head, but we knew that already.
* the box

the packaging looks a bit cheap chinese gizmo shop. there is space inside the box for a shower holder, but it does not come with this model.

The general idea is there, but I think it would be better if it did away with the temperature sensor and just put in white LEDs instead then it would be total win

* its a great stress relief toy, possibly the best one.
* everyone likes playing with it
* nice colours
* a lot cheaper than the rubiks one
* simple to use and create shapes with
* it works just fine

Cons:

* i remember them being a lot bigger, but maybe thats just my 7 year old body v my adult body :D
* the build quality leaves something to be desired

i got this and started making the shapes i used to as a kid, its not difficult at all to use.

Bottomline:

if you just want something to reminisce with, then this is perfect. its not going to set your world on fire, but its definately worth a couple of dollars, even if youre just looking for a secret santa gift or stocking filler.

Pros:

* allows sound to work on a laptop where the soundcard has died
* frees up resources allowing smoother playing of youtube videos, as far as i can gather.
* small and handy to carry around.

Cons:

* ugly LEDs, they serve no purpose whatsoever
* very loud playback

Other Thoughts:

I tried my headphones sound card on the laptop to test a solution to the problem with the broken laptop soundcard and it worked. so i went ahead with this item to solve the problem.
those worked better, but it isn't my laptop which i was fixing so i needed something like this product as a full time solution.
however, maybe it is an idea to spend a few more dollars on something with better build quality. DX sell at least another soundcard, its a few dollars more, but maybe it would be more useful.

Bottomline:

it does work, the quality isn't great. saying its only 2 dollars or whatever isn't really an argument. if you want to enjoy sound when you are using an otherwise defunct soundcard, then it is really worth looking for something a little better. if you want it as a diagnostic tool, then its fine.

Pros:

* it looks a great useless gadget if you are a reseller
* its different
* its a novel way of using up a USB port
* looks cute
* nicely packaged
* great for LAN festivals
* great for a secret santa gift
* good as a display

Cons:

* it does make a noise, which is to be expected considering that its made from plastic, pretty close to what i imagined.
* i wouldnt recommend it for use all the time
* looks like its broken, the legs look like theyre hanging off, but its all ok when you plug it in.

Other Thoughts:

this product really needs to be a flash drive 100%, it would be fantastic.

Bottomline:

its a fairly uselss gadget, it just humps the usb port its plugged into.
i know of someone who will really like this, its his sense of humour. so i will probably give it to him, so he can plug it into his PS3.
this thing really needs to be made into a USB stick, it would look great having a dog humping a PC especially if it had "worms" in it! :P

Pros:

* you can spell out a simple message on the fridge.
* the magnets are strong enough to keep the letters in place.
* the packaging held the letters in place well, the blister packaging was securely fastened.

Cons:

* it would be better if all the letters had 2 magnets on them.
* though it will hold it, i wouldnt use the letters to keep a peice of paper in place.
* one of the magnets has come away from the letter T, a simple fix, but worth mentioning as a negative.
* the pack should contain at least 2 of each letter.

Other Thoughts:

it can be seen in the pictures, these arent the same sort of letter magnets that i feel are more common place, these are slightly larger set out in a different font and transparent.

Bottomline:

it would be nice if more than one of each letter was provided, i think at least enough to do "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" should be a minimum for sets like this.
however, overall im happy i bought them.

Pros:

* they fit all the older style psp very well.
* it is well stitched.
* nice clean material.
* soft enough to clean your psp screen without much risk of scratching it.
* matches the ipod socks very well.

Cons:

* i would prefer some sort of psp logo on it, like the ipod socks sold here, though i knew it didnt have that before i bought it, its still a con though.
* i wish that they came in a different colours, i would be prepared to pay a little more to have a rainbow of colours like the ipod sock SKU. again, i knew that i would just get grey, so i cant complain.

Bottomline:

overall, i am happy with my purchase here. there is room for improvement on this should DX bring in another SKU of the same product. however, i think this is more practicle that a bulky psp case and as such is a good buy if you travel a lot with your psp.

Pros:

i got 2 one for my girlfriend and one for her mum as they walk as part of their excercise routines. so this is what i am told.
* it came well packaged, though not for a market display, just a sturdy white box.
* the colour (white) is very nice on this, better than the blue one shown.
* the overall design is asthetically pleasing.
* it works really well, suprising, cheap pedometers are usually very poor in quality.
* it estimates how far you have gone and how many calories you have burned, you input you height and weight into it.
* easy to see the display.
* a fairly sturdy clip.

Cons:

nothing at all on this.

Other Thoughts:

i bought these after promising my girlfriend to buy her and her mum a pedometer as they were about to spend something liek 20 dollars a peice on one. they are very happy with gifts and say it was worth the short wait.

Bottomline:

if you want a rough estimate as to what you are acheiving in your walking, then i strongly recommend this device.

Pros:

* you get quite a few tools here.
* pretty standard screw driver and torx sizes for small electrical goods.
* the items should last a good year or so before i would need to think about replacing them.
* it doesnt take up a lot of space in your tool box.

Cons:

* the screw drivers are not magnestised, which is a real let down.
* it could come with a little suction cup for i-pod touch and the likes. also the screw driver for the nintendo is missing, as far as i can tell, i haven't repaired one of those, yet.

Bottomline:

the pack you get contains tools that will cover most small electrical items that you could possibly face to fix.
however, it is in no way professional, rather just a cheap set of tools for a simple repair here and there. i have already used some of the tools in this pack, they worked fine, just remember to be a little careful as the screw drivers arent magnestised.

Pros:

* it came nicely packaged
* its a solid brick, it will not break easily.
* it works.
* this will probably last you a lifetime, which is great as it does not have a use by date.
* the package comes with some nice survival tips on how best to use the item.

Cons:

* the package is aimed at markets that use imperial measurements more than likely people in north america as it mentions fahrenheit and "the size of a quarter."

Other Thoughts:

i think for the amount of times i will need to use something like this, perhaps i could have gone with a smaller version of this. however, now that i have it, i'm not going to complain about it, it should last me the rest of my life.

Bottomline:

i bought this as a peice of mind for general outdoor activities, going skiing, fishing and hiking. i usually carry a lighter with me, but if the gsas runs out or the lighter gets wet, then this could become a life saving tool.

Pros:

* you get 100 of these, of which around 80 are good.
* i use quite a lot of these batteries with the led laser pointer keychains so having so many is a big bonus.
* theyre so much cheaper than what you can get them for in your local shop.

Cons:

* this is the second time ive ordered these, the first time the package was just a mess and a lot, if not all of the batteries had discharged. it looks like teh packaging is a little better now.
* it would be so much better if they could package the batteries with a ibuprofen style package, where you pop the batteries out.

Other Thoughts:

i will be ordering these again, so the pros clearly out-weigh the cons.

Bottomline:

if you have non essential items that use these batteries, then buy these.

Pros:

* some complain about it being expensive for such a small peice of plastic, but, youre paying for ingenuity here.
* it is pretty much like the original, with the exception of the size rating marked on the thumb thing. the size go small, medium, large, extra large. the thumb things sold by DX match the large ones, and theyre possibly the most versatile size out of the lot.
* the thumb thing is great because it allows for one handed reading. it is so small and convenient theat you can easily put it in your pocket, or a bag for when you go to the beach, and it is so cheap on bulk rate prices, that you can buy many and have them lying around all over the house and cheap enough to give away to other book readers.
* it is so comfortable to wear, no more aching hands from having to strain to hold a book open on long reading sessions.

Cons:

* the one con is DX should get extra large ones in too. though as i said before, large is a good size of this product.

Other Thoughts:

they only come in blue.

Bottomline:

buy some, and make sure to buy more than one, buy 10 or so with the bulk rate option, theyre soooo cheap. :D

* it comes nicely boxed.
* lots of colours to suit your ipod and you.
* it maintains its shape after being stretched.
* you can polish your ipod with it.
* people love receiving just one as a little gift.
* good stitching.

Cons:

* perhaps its a little slack on an ipod nano, but its still useable.
* other than that, i can't think of anything bad to say about this product.

you need to buy a few packs if you think of giving one away, as people easily feel left out when these are being handed out. its a good job these are so cheap.

if you have an ipod, buy a pack of these.

* not an i-pod
* no authorised sellers for this in europe, so you get to have something different if youre from these parts.
* really vibrant screen.
* big screen.
* good sound quality.
* good storage capacity.
* you get a lot of machine for the price.
* seems more durable than an ipod.

Cons:

* have to buy extras online for it if you're from europe.
* its HUGE.

if youre looking for a cheap media player, with a decent sized screen, youre not gonna do much better than this.

Bottomline:

its nearly half the price of an ipod nano 8gb, here. but its about 8 times as big.

Pros:

* it provides a nice amount of light, which is a plus if you work in a slightly darkened room.
* you can conveniently press it on and off.
* it comes packaged in the shown box, which makes it good for resellers, or market stall owners.
* its a nice little focal point around your pc.
* the print quality of the lettering its tip top.
* it doesnt seem to use much power at all, so you can run it off a laptop if need be.

Cons:

*the plastic looks as though it could scratch quite easily.
* the box does look a little shabby, it is hand written on the side as to what sort of marking is on the light, with just a standard box. yes, i'm being picky because they're the only two things i can think of.

Other Thoughts:

* would make a fantastic little stocking filler for any geek you know, unless they already have one, then perhaps you wanna buy the Alt and Del "buttons" too for a full set ;)

how much did i pay for it, i cant remember, but its definately worth it.

- pretty much plug and play, though my phone needed a bit of faffing about to get it sync'ed

- small enough to keep attached to a netbook

lots of reviews here saying trhe usb poart of this isnt quite right. i really had no problem with mine.
the plastic was well secured to the metal, took a fair bit of effort to open it up with a precision screwdriver

if you have a cheap netbook or desktop pc, this is a great addition to have, if you want to give it some connectivity to bluetooth peripheralsand phones and stuff like that

- english instructions on the side of the box
- unbelievably cheap
- the bottle is far better for storage than the tubes you normally get, a lot more durable
- although the cap isnt childproof, its opening mechanism might require more dexterity than a child has in their hands (which is actually better than brands here which have caps than can be easily opened by a child)
- the glue works as you would expect
- you can see how much glue you have through the bottle

add a bottle of this to your next order, if you dont have this already. now i have to put mine in a place where i wont forget where i put it :)

Pros:

- packaging looks decent enough. though mine came cracked a little on a corner, so resellers may want to ask for better protection.
- simple plug and play operation
- the sound on playback is clear
- the range of the mic is pretty good, can easily pick up a converstation 30 ft away
- when record is selected the ipod starts recording instantly
- can be attatched to a keyring for safe keeping.

Cons:

- the hole is there for a keychain attatchment "cord" but there is none supplied.

Other Thoughts:

- actually bigger than i imagined (i really need to start reading the facts about dimensions in future)

Bottomline:

i imagine it would be quite handy for student or journalist as a back up. i will try it out to record at gigs and meetings.

Pros:

- nicely packaged
- batteries supplied seem ok in quality, fresh at least
- i spend about 5 minutes a day playing with the cats with this, any more im affraid they might get a heart attack
- the laser is powerful enough for any need i have
- comes with a passable flashlight, ok in an emergency i guess, though i didnt buy them for that
- no problems with customs, shipped as led keychain

Cons:

- my 2 indoor cats go wild for this, i cant even pick up my work keys without the cats hearing the chain to the laser without them running to me
- dont buy this for the flashlight part of it, its a nice feature, but it is poor in comparison to the laser
- waste of a staple on the packaging, it serves no purpose, on all 8 i have received the staple isnt even holding the package together! (the blsiter pack hold just fine on its own)

Other Thoughts:

i have bought 8 and given 4 of them away. people seem really happy to be given one, and ive even been offered 50 norwegian kroner ($7.50 USD), as compensation. :o

Bottomline:

i bought this for my cats. admittedly i dont play with them enough, so this is an easy way out of my responsibilities of running around with some silly catnip scented fluffy thing.

Pros:

- clearly labelled on the battery with what it is
- works with my pspphat, havent tried it with my slim (yet)
- the battery is in line with the larger phat battery, so if you use it with the slim, then you cant put the cover on
- unleashes the potential of the psp
- if you have "bricked" your psp, then this is what you need

Cons:

nothing major enough to put here, though i have added something in other thoughts

Other Thoughts:

i tried putting this int he first time and i found it a bit tight fitting. when i examined it up to the original battery, i noticed that there was some platic "feet" on it, so i took those off and its fine now.

Bottomline:

if you want to unbrick or downgrade your psp, then youre gonna need a pandoras battery. buying this is cheaper than making one yourself, so you would be silly not to!!
downgrading the psp is the best thing ive ever done to it :)
