Pros:

here we have another curious handheld from dealextreme. this time its a Dot matrix game shaped like a DS. its retro gaming at its er.."finest"? take a trip back to 1980 with this funny little device. its similar to Gameking. it reminds one of those Game & Watch games, or very early B&W Gameboy games. there is
a Super mario type game
a street fighter type game
a arkanoid/breakout type game
a horizontal shooter (1942 type) game
a TANK game.

Cons:

the 5 games are actually built in the system. the "cartridges" does nothing more than provide a background, and presses a pin down. there are 4 pins inside, pin 1 is power, pin 2 is tank, pin 3 is the wall, pin 4 is star war, pins 3&4 is risk king. so a lump on a background determines what game loads. this is where it losses marks, be better if they just put a switch to select games, so you wouldent have to carry around background plates just to change games.

Other Thoughts:

this would be good for very small children to teach them how to take care of a game console before you buy them an expensive DS. it could save parents $100.
its also good for a laugh, show your friends your "awesome" new handheld with "advanced" dot matrix graphics.
and at such a low price you dont need to worry about it getting lost or stolen, throw one in your glove compartment for emergencies.

Bottomline:

my favorite game is "King Boxing". a street fighter style game. for such simple graphics, the level of detail is impressive. you choose between ryu, adon or zangief. and can throw a hadoken by pressing certain keys. after hours and hours of trying to understand the Engrish in the manual i finally figured out that: (Back, Back, A) throws fireball.

Pros:

-a good towel
-emergency towel
-space saver

Cons:

-only de-compresses Once, cannot be re-compressed.

Other Thoughts:

so that is what a hand towel squished into a ball half its size looks like.
it seems the outer shell (soccer ball print) is nothing more than a plastic casing, sorta like a label on a soda bottle. much to my disappointment this is a one-time-use item, once you remove the plastic its just a regular hand towel, it cannot be re-compressed. i suppose you keep it in your glove compartment or suitcase for an emergency.
now dont get me wrong, it IS a really GOOD Facecloth/hand towel, but you have to think that wherever you go in the world, there would be some store somewhere where you could buy a towel. or just dry your hands/face with your underwear/socks like everybody else. or napkins, papertowels, tissues, toiletpaper, wipes, wetnaps etc.

Bottomline:

this is a fine towel, good quality. good to have in an emergency situation. but dosent re-shape into a ball, no matter how strong you are.

Pros:

-it seals bags
-convenient travel size

Cons:

-sealing requires careful patience

Other Thoughts:

if you buy bags of chips, then YOU NEED THIS. i like to buy BIG bags of chips. not only do you save money by buying in bulk, but the bigger bags of chips have more/better varieties. some flavors just arent available in small individual bags. sometimes i will even open several bags of chips at a time, just so i can have a mixed flavor experience. but as always happens, by the time i get around to finishing-off the remaining chips, they have gone stale, they lost their "crunch" and have become nothing more than soggy unappealing remnants of their former self.

Bottomline:

this is a lifesaver, now i can reseal by bags, thus preserving the fresh delicious flavor. if you have the right bags you could also seal old clothes so they dont get moldy or eaten by mothes in your basement/garage, or you could seal collectibles/antiques/sensitive electronics in an airtight bag to prevent moisture or dust. the possibilities are endless.
you have to move the sealer SLOWLY across the bag to get it to seal right, and it takes a few tries to get the hang of it, but once you do it works like a charm. you will be sealing like a master in no time.

Pros:

-the cartridges have NO repeats.
-comes with free controller
-can play 2-PLAYER games
-9V adapter compatible
-has AUTOFIRE A & B buttons
-four button Dpad, PS style
-more comfortable to hold
-looks exactly like a...(you know what)

Cons:

-speaker is on the back
-player 2 port is 9-pin (nes is 7pin)
-quality.. well, pretty much what you'd expect.

Other Thoughts:

don't make the mistake of comparing this with other handhelds. in some aspects this is vastly superior to the onestation, first of all it has a 9V power port, so you can plug in the adapter while playing if your batteries get low. BTW, switching from batteries to Adapter wont affect your game. and it uses 4 AAA batteries instead of 3 AAA, for longer play time. the included cartridge has some really good games on it, with almost NO REPEATS. yes, it really does have over 100 games. you can even use it without the cartridge as there are 5 games built in.
and, unlike the onestation, it has AUTOFIRE A and B buttons. and most importantly, THE BUTTONS ARE ACTUALLY CONFIGURED THE PROPER WAY! yes, left button is "B", right button is "A". a MUST for games like super mario or lode runner. definitely more ergonomically designed than other handhelds that have the buttons mixed up.
oh yeah, that port on the bottom, its for playing 2 PLAYER GAMES. also, you could plug in a light gun for DUCK HUNT.

Bottomline:

now the bad, the speaker is located on the back, so you cant really hear the sound very well, but it does have a headphone jack. also, the controller port is 9-pin famiclone style, the standard of most pirate NES systems. and you cant buy just 9-pin controllers anywhere. the overall quality of this isn't great, but then again what did you expect.

Pros:

-cheap
-good to have handy
-opens effortlessly
-partially serrated

Cons:

-screws need to be tightened every so often
-locking mechanism isnt great, part of the inside handle (silver part) is bent up, you close the knife by sliding the piece of metal to the side.

Other Thoughts:

i didn't expect much when i bought it but i was totally blown away. it looks cool, feels solid, has a nice feel to it. and the serrated edge is a nice touch, its good for cutting through hard things quickly, like rope, or wood, or cable.
i discovered that you can "snap" it open by flicking your wrist, like a switchblade. you dont even need the "thumb" piece. so there i stood, in front of the mirror, in my coolest tough guy stance, quick-draw opening the knife again and again, doing my DeNiro impression; "are you looking at me?....are you lookin at me?". when suddenly one of the little screws popped out and rolled across the floor, it took me a good hour to find it. luckily, i had also bought SKU6604, so i was able to put the screw right back in.

Bottomline:

i keep it in my pocket, just in case some street tough tries to makes trouble.

Pros:

this is a list of games, ordered as the back of the box, but with the CORRECT names given. improper "engrish" has been corrected.

Cons:

Other Thoughts:

when i first bought this, it wouldn't work and i was quite frustrated, then one day on a whim i decided to put the batteries in the opposite way, and whadya know it worked. i guess the factory that made them dident think to test it. or maybe dealextreme staff put the batteries like that to get past customs, they might think its a radioactive rod.
unfortunately, it takes an odd battery type, where else but dealextreme can you find cheap AG3 batteries? also, there is no ON/OFF switch, so you have to hold the button to keep it lit. its hard to open a door in the dark while pressing the light, if you only have one hand free anyway.
and its a bit too long for a keychain. IS THAT A FLASHLIGHT IN YOUR POCKET?, OR ARE YOU JUST HAPPY TO SEE ME.

Bottomline:

it isn't very bright which makes it impractical for a flashlight, its almost like a glow-in-the-dark stick, but you have to hold a button. it uses a blue led, id like to know if you could detect counterfeit money with it, like a CSI flashlight, probably not.
anyway, it does look ridiculously AWESOME!. its cool to look at, especially when your stoned, or at parties. makes a great gift.

Pros:

-can make them without trans fats/oils
-healthy
-simple yet effective
-the price is right

Cons:

-time consuming
-takes a long time to cook
-hard to "flavor"
-microwave only

Other Thoughts:

i can honestly say i've never seen anything like this before. sure, i've seen various slicers and dicers on late nite infomercials. but a rack for potato chips, its revolutionary. when i tried this i was pleasantly surprised, my chips turned out quite nice and crispy. excellent. its not the same as a commercial bag of chips mind you, but still pretty good. this is great if you like to eat organic, you can make chips fresh, without any oils, additives, or preservatives. a healthy alternative.

Bottomline:

i found that sometimes the chips swell up on the bottom and its hard to get them out. and its hard to flavor them, whatever you put on it drips down on the plate as its cooking, and after its cooked nothing will stick to it. also it takes at least 10 min to cook, and the rack only holds like half a small bag of chips(one small potato). so it takes a llooooong time just to make a decent snack. i imagine the electricity used costs more than a store bought bag of chips. wasting electricity is bad for the environment. also, one time i accidentally left them in too long and the plastic started to melt, so remember to watch them carefully kids.

Pros:

neat battery free flashlight. and cheap.

Cons:

build quality. sigh.

Other Thoughts:

this is a really good battery free flashlight. i like to call it my chainsaw flashlight, because you pull the cord to get it to work. i try to fool people into thinking its gas powered.
pulling the cord is actually kind of fun. and easy. much better than the other flashlights you "jerk" up and down to charge. its fairly bright, 3 leds are better than 1. and it has adjustable brightness, not sure why.

Bottomline:

i never worry about dead batteries anymore.

Pros:

ice cold drinks on a hot day, without electricity.

Cons:

-takes a lot of effort just to make a large glass.
-there are 4 small screws on the disk, presumably to hold the ice in place, if you drill down too far the screws could damage the blade, so you always need more ice than your glass.

Other Thoughts:

ok, i'll try and explain this as best i can. the top part is a spring loaded disc and inside is a sharp blade. when you turn the handle the blade shaves the ice and the spring puts downward pressure on the ice. you can use ice cubes if you want, but if you use large ice cubes, the particles will come out somewhat course(chunks)and the handle will stick, so i just twist it like a pepper grinder. it works much better however, if you freeze a chunk of ice, with the included container for instance. when you use a solid round piece of ice and turn the handle fast, the ice particles come out quite fine indeed. very close to slurpee quality. you could also freeze juice, or chocolate milk, to be more efficient.

Bottomline:

i don't know what its like in your country, but here in Canada I've never seen anything like this in the stores. when i was a kid we used to wrap ice cubes in a kitchen towel and smash it with a hammer. perhaps its because our summers only last like a month. all i've seen are electric machines that are expensive, complex, and hard to use. this thing is much better, its simple yet effective. and the best thing is it uses zero electricity, now you can enjoy ice drinks anywhere. camping, at a picnic, on a road trip, or when the power goes out.

Pros:

several different racing games
fun racing games will keep you entertained.

Cons:

no "top gear", gasp

1. F-1 championship , a cool Vector graphics (3D) racing game.
2. super hang-on , a motorcycle racing game similar to outrun
3. road blaster , a racing game where you shoot stuff. sort of like spy hunter except from a 3rd person perspective.
4. super monaco GP , standard F1 racing game.
5. championship pro am , like rc pro am, you drive a remote control vehicle. utilizes an unique isometric out-of-vehicle perspective.
6. double clutch , an overhead racing game, like micro machines.

Bottomline:

MD MAX cartridges are extremly fragile, they may or may not work when you buy them, so buy several.

Pros:

-can use adapter for power
-good screen quality
you can use ac adapter and batteries at the same time, or change batteries while ac adapter is plugged in, without losing your game.

Cons:

cartridges....aagh

Other Thoughts:

by the way, this does have a GBA power port on the back, unlike the picture, so you can use the GBA adapter from dealextreme with this.(SKU 4411) also, you can plug in the adapter while playing if your batteries get low.
the build quality of this is excellent. its as well built as any commercial handheld. and the TV out worked fine on my north american NTSC Television. the screen is WIDE, so it stretches out the image to fill the whole screen area. some people complained about this, but i like it. its the biggest advantage of this unit i think. i also thought the screen quality was superb.
that being said, there is a problem with this, and its a big one. even though the handheld is very good, the cartridges are very bad. the cartridges are extremely cheap and poorly made, even by asian pirate standards.
i bought 6 cartridges, 2 of them dident work, one of which worked by wedging a piece of paper between the cartridge and unit. and with some of the cartridges the outer casing broke as i tried to get it in the cartridge slot.

Bottomline:

i suppose the cartridges are just too small, it probably would have been better if the cartridges were huge and stuck out of the top. another case of a good idea just poorly implemented.
BUT HEY, if you only pay $4 for a game cartridge, its not that bad. so if youre feeling lucky, definitely give this a try. its a good handheld, if you actually get a working cartridge that is.

Other Thoughts:

first of all, everybody is wondering if this works with the regular onestation, the non-elite version. well let me set the record straight, YES, THIS WORKS WITH ALL ONESTATION VERSIONS.
but....you need to bend the metal contact so it fits with regular onestation. the battery compartments of the regular and elite onestation are the same, but the positive connection is a tiny bit smaller on the original onestation. not a big deal, but keep in mind the origional onestation might reset while playing.

Bottomline:

this device solves one of the problems with the onestation, battery life!. you play a game and get almost to the end, and then the batteries die. now you can recharge the batteries while playing.
however, the batteries arent great, and its kind of awkward to play while the adapter is plugged in the back. but as the philosopher Jager once said; you cant always get what you want.

Pros:

SAVES TIME! FUN TO USE.

Cons:

a bit fruity looking. a discreet black one would have been better.

Other Thoughts:

let me tell you a story, a while ago i was watching a TV show called "americas next greatest inventor" or something. where people brought in their inventions and had them judged. this one guy had a low rpm grinder he used on his fingernails. well he was laughed out of the building. i guess the judges thought it was stupid. but in the back of mind i was thinking, MY GOD, THAT WOULD BE THE GREATEST THING EVER!
and when i bought this, i wasent dissapointed. finally, no more putting my hands in buckets of ice after filing down my toenails. cutting my nails went from a tedious chore, to a lightning quick task.
my only problem with this would be that its marketed towards women. it comes with a pink pouch, and there are large pink letters on the side that say: "NAIL DECORATOR". i mean come on, women can keep an emery board in their purse, or get a manicure in a salon. whats a manly man to do? and who else but a man would use a power tool on their fingers just to save time? i would have liked it to come in BLACK or GRAY, something that looks like a tool to the casual observer, something that you can throw in your toolbox and not have an embarrassing moment when one of your friends sees it.

Bottomline:

i thought mine was a bit too SLOW, but it might just be old batteries. it tickles sometimes and it makes you flinch.
