To reduce mechanical strain on my USB ports, I used the included USB extension cable for charging.
The cable worked for a couple of weeks, then whatever USB port I plugged it into intermittently shut down; this caused incomplete charging. Finally the cable completely let go from the connector and shell at the female end. The wires showed excessive insulation removal, poor soldering, and corrosion indicating inadequate flux removal.
My suggestion is to buy a sturdy extension cable, and save yourself the headaches.
