I got my recorder yesterday, i tested runtime and the pen shuts down after recording 53 minutes of video.
How long is your runtime, everyone?

you only put one charge through the battery?
you need to fully charge and discharge battery about 4 to 5 times before it's conditioned and gives max power, i have the mp8 pen and i get around 90min total(not continuous) recording

That sounds strange since lithium batteries do not work like that.
And i really wasn't complaining about the runtime, i'm just curious if about an hour is what this thing will do, or if some people got runtimes closer to 2 hours.

that's why i said total, means i turn it on a few times over say 3 days use, but if you fully charge it and turn it on until it runs down, you will get more runtime
re lithium batteries, most need several cycles to condition the battery to accept a full charge, have a look in most cell phone manuals or video camera manuals, they may also say to get the most battery life you should charge overnight for the first charge

That statement in manuals is most likely a holdover from Ni* batteries, the people who write the manuals simply didn't bother to look up differences between Li* and Ni*.
Li* needs a full charge when new, but since the charge protection cuts in when the battery is full, leaving it in the charger for 12 hours after full won't do crap to the battery.

@ghlargh, i'm aware of that, but with quality chargers(don't ask which Dx chargers are quality as i only have 1 charger from Dx!) what happens is for lithium batteries there's a two stage charge(the ultra fast lithium chargers like for some portable power tools skip one stage), the battery is fully charged to end point i.e ~4.2v then cuts off, there's a rest period based on a fixed period or on the feedback/temp sensor, then the voltage drops slightly and the charger will start charging again to end point, this is repeated several times overnight and is what is supposed to condition the new battery, as you put more cycles on the battery the voltage drops slower up to a point, then the battery capacity starts to drop off slightly and internal resistance goes up a little(this is all controlled by the battery pcb so it's hard to measure the cell directly without removing the pcb) as it ages

Well the one I have - just for a note - fills up the 2 gig in about 42 minutes. Battery outlasted the capture.
