While it is unrealistic to expect this little USB sound unit out performing an Audigy 2 EX, the USB sound card does present itself as a good upgrade for those older laptops and desktops. For instance, if you have a five years old computer sitting around in your kitchen which you just want to use it as a MP3 player and you don't want to mess with the computer's internals, then it is a great idea to get this sound card upgrade.
